We are looking for someone who has experience working in a machine shop. This job will primarily consist of assembling and disassembling equipment. Company DescriptionS.P. Kinney Engineers, Inc. is a family owned and operated engineering and manufacturing company that is located in Pittsburgh, PA with a satellite manufacturing facility in Richmond, VA. Selwyne Perez Kinney opened the company’s doors in 1941 in Pittsburgh with a focus on manufacturing equipment for the American Steel Industry. He was a graduate of the University of Utah with degrees in metallurgy and chemical engineering. He was a member of many engineering associations, and through the years he was the recipient of many awards for his contributions to the iron and steel industries and his extensive experimental studies with the U.S. Bureau of Mines. In 1976, his son Rol Frank Kinney took over the company. By this time S.P. Kinney was still heavily involved with the steel industry, but it was branching out into other industries with our water filtration lines. Craig Selwyne Kinney took over the company in 2001, and he has been running it ever since. Today our focus is on making quality American-Made blast furnace equipment for steel mills around the world and water filtration equipment for any and all industries incorporating raw water or recirculating water in their facilities.

Pipe Fitter - Full-time

Steamfitter

Maintains in good working condition all facility equipment, including HVAC, refrigeration equipment, fire protection systems, steam distribution; climate control systems; maintenance / fire, cleaning equipment by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Repairs and maintains all facility systems and equipment. • Inspects systems throughout facility to detect malfunctions or breakdowns. • Operates and oversees building automation system for HVAC equipment. This includes the scheduling of air handler unit operation throughout the building in accordance with the building events schedule. • Investigates malfunctions or breakdowns of systems to diagnose causes and locate the source of the problem. • Implements corrective actions and solutions. • Anticipates potential malfunctions or breakdowns and takes appropriate action to prevent or minimize curtailment of services. • Assists in 3rd-Party Inspections of facility fire protection system equipment. • Operates auxiliary supply systems when a breakdown occurs. • In collaboration with Director of Facility Services/Facility Manager, coordinates shutdown and start-ups of utilities when conditions require it. • Follows procedures for use of Work Orders and Legends Global Maintenance Manager systems. • Adheres to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes. • Assembling and securing pipes, fittings and tubes according to specifications by brazing, welding, cementing and threading joints. • Attaching pipes to structures, walls and fixtures by using clamps, brackets, tools and welding equipment. • Follow blueprints or building plans. • Proficient in working with tools of the trade and materials of the trade such as blow torches, power grinders, screwdrivers, gas welding and torching. • Adhere to and following safety rules and inspections. • Other duties may be assigned. Education and/or Experience • HVAC/plumbing certification/licensing is required. • Graduate of an accredited technical school 1+ year hands-on experience with HVAC equipment. Computer Skills To perform the job successfully, the individual should have sufficient computer skills to operate BMS or other automated systems.
