Job Description We are seeking skilled workers for the position of ‘Construction Worker 1’ to join our team at the Stibnite Mine Development Project in central Idaho. Construction Worker 1 is a general title for workers with the highest skill level across various trades, including, but not limited to, carpentry, concrete construction, iron work, pipe fitting, HDPE pipe fusion, crane operation, underground mining, and more. The role is intended for workers who may be required to perform multiple or diverse tasks not covered by specific job titles. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in multiple trades and the flexibility to handle various onsite responsibilities as needed. This is an on-site position following the 19/9 shift rotation, and the Construction Worker 1 will report directly to the Project Foreman. Key Responsibilities · Perform high-level tasks across multiple trades, including carpentry, concrete work, iron work, pipe fitting, HDPE pipe fusion, crane operation, underground mining, and other specialized activities as required. · Adapt to unique or unspecified roles to support project needs, ensuring seamless integration into various work crews. · Assist with construction and mining tasks, including building structures, pouring concrete, welding or fabricating metal, installing piping systems, operating heavy machinery, and conducting underground operations. · In addition to primary duties, the employee may need to operate various types of equipment or perform tasks from different trades to support project needs. · Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on tools and equipment across multiple disciplines. · Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment. · Collaborate with other team members to meet project deadlines and objectives. · Keep a clean and organized work area, including proper tool storage, site layout, daily cleaning of equipment, and maintenance of work zones. Scope of Work The ‘Construction Worker 1’ will perform a variety of tasks critical to the Stibnite Mine Development Project, including: · Carpentry Tasks: Build, install, and repair wooden structures, formwork, and supports for mining and construction projects. · Concrete Work: Mix, pour, finish, and cure concrete for foundations, slabs, and other structural elements. · Iron Work: Fabricate, weld, and install reinforcing steel, structural metal, and related components. · Pipe Fitting: Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems for water, fuel, or other utilities. · HDPE Pipe Fusion: Fuse and install high-density polyethylene pipes using specialized equipment. · Crane Operation: Operate cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment safely. · Underground Mining: Perform excavation, tunneling, bolting, and support installation in underground environments. · Versatile Support: Fill unique or ad-hoc roles not covered by specific job titles, adapting to project demands. · Quality Control: Monitor and verify that work across trades meets project specifications and standards. · Site Preparation: Prepare work areas and equipment for efficient operations in various trades. · Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on tools and machinery from multiple disciplines. · Consumables Maintenance: Assist with managing and properly using consumable items as needed for various tasks. · Attachment Operation: Use various attachments (e.g., buckets, hammers, grapples) for specialized equipment tasks. · Facility Maintenance: Maintain an efficient and clean site, including proper layout, daily cleanout, and upkeep of work areas. Required Skills and Qualifications · A minimum of ten years of experience at the highest skill level across multiple trades, such as carpentry, concrete work, iron work, pipe fitting, HDPE pipe fusion, crane operation, underground mining, or similar. · Proven experience as a versatile worker in civil and vertical construction or mining projects, with the ability to fill diverse roles. · Proficiency in operating equipment and performing tasks from various trades, including heavy machinery and specialized tools. · Strong understanding of multi-trade techniques, safety practices, and adaptable work methods. · Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. · Strong communication and teamwork skills. Employees will stay in a camp at the project site during their shifts. The schedule is 19 days on and 9 days off, with two of the 19 days counted as paid travel days. The company will provide transportation to and from the site for both on- and off-shift rotations. Meals will be served at a catered cafeteria at the camp, and employees will have access to showers and laundry services. Camp Policies • The camp is a "dry" camp, meaning the consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on-site. • This policy is in place to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees. • Employees must follow this policy at all times during their shifts. Safety and Compliance The Stibnite Mine Development Project operates under the oversight of both OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration). Specifically, the multi-trade operations are governed by MSHA regulations, requiring Construction Worker 1 to possess MSHA-experienced miner training. All employees will undergo comprehensive training to obtain the necessary certifications tailored to their roles, work locations, and tasks. Risk Management • Understand all aspects of the prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, insurance, bonding and contractual risks • Oversee and approval of all subcontract awards • Manage procurement risks with the Preconstruction Director through team communication and the development of strategies to deal with those risks • Rigorously manage and adhere to subcontractor prequalification and award protocols • Review and edit prime contract to ensure previously decided upon “deal points” actually make it into the contract Financial Management / Forecasting • Be an active participant in all forecast meetings, hold the team accountable and be on the lookout for POP! • Report to the Preconstruction Director the outcome of each forecast meeting • Take ownership of buyout issues and take action in identifying a solution even if discovered after turnover Design Management • Engage with the design team to foster a collaborative and productive team environment • Understand and influence design and the design schedule • Keep the owner and design team updated as to how design decisions impact the project cost and schedule • Gather and internalize general technical construction knowledge such as building types, building codes, building systems, LEED/sustainable design and construction, etc. • Attend and actively participate in design and other project meetings, both with the client and the A/E • Update the preconstruction schedule regularly to support the preconstruction effort and utilize it to effectively execute the plan with the entire tea Estimating • Identify areas of scope gap and ensure these are tracked and managed • Gather and maintain expert knowledge in current market unit price data • Provide overall leadership and accountability of the project team Procurement • Address subcontract language issues arising from trade contractor reviews and work with Preconstruction Director and Project Director to bring them to closure • Develop a project specific Request For Proposal for distribution to subcontractors including but not limited to instructions to bidders, contract documents, logistics, phasing, schedule, bid forms for pricing and schedule, and a list of documents. Engage the construction team. • Oversee and ensure subcontractor interviews are being effectively conducted and involve the construction team • Know the project scope and special requirements and ensure these are communicated to the bidding subcontractors and procured timely and correctly • Resolve all subcontractor exceptions/comments to the subcontract agreement prior to making a trade award.
