AET is hiring a Traveling Renewable Energy Field Technician of projects typically lasting 3-9 months Job Summary With close supervisor, perform on-site soil inspection and testing, concrete field, and laboratory testing, as well as other services during construction of wind farms. While performing tests of soil and concrete at wind turbine installation sites and document test data. All services will be performed in accordance with AET's QA procedures. This position will primarily focus on projects outside of AET’s geographic area and will include a significant amount of travel including long-term remote assignments. This role requires frequent travel, with projects typically lasting 3-9 months (depending on project scope) before transitioning to the next assignment. Tower climbing is not a component of this position. Housing and food expenses are covered via a generous per diem allowance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations or workable solutions may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. • Conduct field concrete testing, including slump, cylinder casting, de-molding, and compression tests. • Perform soil inspections and testing (excavation observations, proof rolling, nuclear density testing, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing, etc.). • Document and report test results to contractors, clients, and project managers. • Communicate with the Lead Wind Energy Technician and contractors to ensure timely test completion. • Assist with installation, troubleshooting, and repair of wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems. • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of renewable energy systems. • Collect and analyze performance data to optimize system efficiency. • Follow industry regulations (OSHA, NEC, environmental standards) to maintain safety and compliance. • Operate specialized field equipment for testing and diagnostics. • Adhere to company policies and procedures while following strict safety protocols. • Work in various environmental conditions, including remote outdoor settings. Qualifications and Education Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent. • Ability to obtain ACI Level 1 Certification • Ability to learn and reliably perform the required tests, reliably document data and report results to contractors, clients, and project managers. • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required. • Ability to travel 95% of the work year required. • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions required. • Capable of the physical labor required, with personal protective equipment. Preferred Skills • ACI Concrete Field-Testing level I certification • Concrete and soil testing experience preferred. Pay Transparency Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $20.29 and $25.38 per hour based on skill set and experience.
