Metal Fabricator

Overview Assist in general responsibilities throughout the facility. Metal fabricators will have the opportunity to operate countless power tools and other equipment to support departments such as grinding, drilling/tapping, powder coat, packaging, assembly, and facility maintenance. They will also receive training and certification in operating a forklift. The baseline of this position is to assure product is moving through the pipeline while also maintaining a safe and clean workplace – performing whatever task necessary to achieve this. Note that this position will give individuals exposure to an abundance of aspects and capacities within metal fabrication, meaning that no day will likely be the same in terms of routine tasks. Qualifications • Must be able to read blueprints, shop drawings, and other written/verbal instructions. • Ability to read a tape measure is an absolute MUST. • Basic mathematical skills. • Capable of working in a team environment and utilizing strong problem-solving skills. • Ability operate various pieces of equipment including drill press, vertical band saw, grinders and a multitude of hand tools used in metal fabrication. • Able to regularly lift and/or move products and material up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods of time. • Mandatory that all duties are performed in conjunction with OSHA and MIOSHA requirements. Responsibilities: • Timely attendance. • Help departments in whatever capacity needed – whether it be organizing the workspace, saw cutting material, drilling, tapping, powder coating, packaging, etc. • Assist in staging materials for projects, pulling and tagging the required materials/hardware. • Ensure that inventory is in order and no pallets or other materials, etc. are lying in unsuitable areas. • Work in accordance with all procedures and instructions identified; complete required paperwork and computer entries as required – ensure accuracy of all entries. • Maintain clean work environment and keep tools in good working order. • Support in creating efficient ways to fabricate products. • Perform other duties as assigned.
