About the position The Plumbing Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections and licensing investigations of commercial and public buildings to ensure compliance with plumbing codes, standards, and public health laws. This role involves significant travel within the state and requires a valid Arkansas Driver's License. The inspector will work closely with city and county plumbing inspectors, review plumbing plans, and assist in the administration of licensing examinations. Responsibilities • Conduct on-site inspections of new and existing plumbing and natural gas installations in commercial and public buildings. , • Assist city and county plumbing inspectors in developing plumbing and gas inspection programs. , • Review plumbing plans for deficiencies and confer with engineers, architects, and facility owners regarding compliance. , • Compile and submit weekly inspection activity reports for supervisor's review. , • Investigate the validity of data on applications for licensing and certify eligibility for examination. , • Administer, score, and update written and practical performance journeyman plumber licensing examinations. , • Conduct public meetings to discuss plumbing and natural gas issues and public health laws. , • Investigate deaths caused by gas-related incidents and submit reports of findings. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent education. , • Licensed as a master plumber by the Arkansas Committee of Plumbing Examiners. , • One year of experience in the plumbing industry or seven years of experience in plumbing inspections or a related field. , • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
