Pipefitter/Welder Maintenance

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Pipefitter/Welder Maintenance at Tinker, AFB. The incumbent installs maintains and repairs water, steam, gas and fuel or other types of pipe and pipefittings. Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered and identify and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution. JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Inspections and assessments of piping systems, reporting those conditions to the supervisor and performing the pipe repair work requests issued by the supervisor. • Investigate and identify facility gas leaks including compressed air, steam and other similar facility utilities. Repair water and steam pipe leaks or other identified problems. Install sampling ports for air desiccant breathers. • Performs a variety of pipefitting trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of water, steam, gas, or other types of pipe and pipefittings according to specifications and plumbing code. • Incumbent understands steam/water flow characteristics and theory of operation; able to apply these applications of all associated equipment such as pumps, traps, strainers, regulators and safety valves. • Lays out work and measures to locate position of pipe from drawings or other written specifications, cutting various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with an oxyacetylene torch, or pipe cutting machines. • Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. • Threads pipe with stocks and dies, assembles pipe with couplings and fastens pipe to hangers. • Fabricates and welds pipe supports, hangers and brackets and secures to structural steel members. • Performs standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow, and size of pipe required. Performs standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications. • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions. • Adheres to proper security practices, foreign object damage procedures and airfield driving regulations, as applicable. Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. • Repairs broken or cracked part, fills holes and increases size of metal parts. • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. • Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used and hours worked on each assigned work order. • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as applicable. • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies. • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations. • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties. • Performs other related duties as assigned. • Accurate, timely, and cost-effective performance of duties. • Working harmoniously with customers and fellow co-workers. • Maintaining strict confidentiality of all Akima LLC related matters. • Accountable for assigned tools, materials and equipment. • Cleanliness and safety of shop and work areas. • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment within the shops and company vehicles. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. • High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). • Valid state driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of valid insurance. • Five (5) years' experience at journeyman pipefitter level. • Minimum of ASMI Welders Class VI certificate. (6g) • Maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications. • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision. • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility infrastructure codes and standards. • Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable. • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations. • Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools. • Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English • This position may currently and/or in the future be required to obtain and retain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) and/or Personal Clearance (PCL) as required by law or contract. • Position requires pre-employment drug screening and background check. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: • Seven (7) years' experience at journeyman pipefitter level. • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. • Previous military experience working and/or working military installation or Tinker AFB facilities. • Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable. Journeyman Pipe Fitters

Location: Drayton, North Dakota DL Jones Construction is looking for Journeyman level Pipe Fitter’s for a project located in Drayton, North Dakota. $30 - $34 / hr + $125 / day Per Diem Requirements: • Minimum 3 years progressive experience in the role Position Summary: The Pipefitter is responsible for fabrication, assembly, installation and maintenance of piping, piping systems and piping supports, as well as the equipment for industrial piping systems based on knowledge of system operation and study of building plans or working drawings. All work is conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and in alignment with company goals and strategies. Essential Job Functions: • Assembles component layout by applying knowledge of geometry, physical metal properties and weld shrinkage • Performs basic mathematical calculations pertaining to the craft such as rolling offsets, cutback of fittings, and takeout between welds and other fits • Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications • Plan the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers • Prep material for welding by cutting or grinding using porta-band, pipe cutters, hammer, and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder • Thread pipe using threading machine • Secure pipes to structure with bolt up, clamps, brackets, tack welding and hangars using hand tools and machines • Test piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks • Compare and recognize differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects • Reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blueprints and make decisions based on measurable criteria • Visualizes objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings • Work within precise limits and ASNI and ASME standards of accuracy • Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department. • Other duties as assigned Required Minimum Qualifications: • Work Experience: Three (3) years’ experience as industrial Pipefitter Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: • Knowledge of geometry and physical metal properties • Ability to do material takeoffs, figure offsets, takeoff of fittings, and rigging • Knowledge of ANSI and ASME standards for Pipes and Fittings • Ability to read and understand plans, isometrics, drawings, specification and/or blueprints • Basic understanding of rigging to move pipe into proper location • Ability to read maps, and navigate to remote locations • Ability to plan and organize within a work schedule • Possess good communication skills, both oral and written • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions • Ability to take direction, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities Physical Demand/Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
