Boilermaker - Pipefitter - Knoxville

Our company is looking for a highly motivated, self-starting welder to fill an opening in our Knoxville, TN location. Our company specializes in boiler and boiler related equipment sales, service and repair, with offices in Georgia and Tennessee. The position classification within our company is that of Boilermaker. Below is a list of the duties, responsibilities & required qualifications necessary to be considered for employment. Duties & Responsibilities: • Welding & Fit-Up (Shielded Metal, Gas Metal Arc & Gas Tungsten Arc) • Oxygen Cutting (Acetylene) • Brazing of Copper Piping • Pipefitting & Plumbing • Prepare boilers for inspection • Mechanical installation of boilers & boiler related equipment • Remove and replace tubes on boilers • Refractory repair and installation • Perform all other duties assigned by the Service Manager & Service Coordinator Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • 2‐3 years relevant experience in service, repair and/or mechanical operations • Must have a valid driver's license • Knowledge in boiler service, repair and/or operations desirable, but not required • Certified A.S.M.E. welder desirable, but not required • Past pipefitting and/or plumbing experience desirable, but not required • Basic computer skills Physical & Personal Requirements: • Ability to lift 50lbs + from floor to waist and waist to above head • Able to climb and use a ladder, forklift & scissor lift • Ability to stand for 6+ hours a day • Ability to work in varying temperatures (Hot & Cold) • Successfully pass a drug test and background check • Efficient, organized & the willingness to adapt to change • Ability to self‐direct, with reasonable, reliable attendance • Good communication and customer service skills • Problem solving skills with a “Can/Will Do” attitude We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. General Employment Consideration - Pipefitter / Welder

Principal Accountabilities • Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place. • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment. • Attach pipes to walls, structures, or fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment. • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings, using hand or power tools. • Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders. • Direct helpers engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. • Must be able to make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. • Must be able to frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. The pipefitters are sometimes required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. The pipefitters are frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. They are occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones.
