Journeyman Pipefitter

As an Industrial Journeyman Pipefitter you will be responsible for planning, installing, and repairing pipe systems according to specifications. Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) • Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and material specs. • Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment according to specifications • Cuts, threads, bends and assembles the pipes. • Prepare, cut, fabricate, layout, fit, position, and assemble piping components together in various positions. • Bolt and clamp parts to secure in position for welding. • Install hangers, supports, valves and components according to piping system plans and specifications. • Perform leak tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems. • Proper identification and use of tools required for tasks. (grinders, drills, beveling machine, etc.) • Work with limited supervision. • Serve as the hoisting specialist for critical lifts to achieve proper install while mitigating any risk for loss. • Operate forklifts & overhead cranes. • Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment. • Maintain safe and clean work environment. Requirements: • Must have 5+ years’ experience with pipe fitting processes. • Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance experience. • Ability to read prints and construction drawings. • Must understand how to read and interpret technical manuals to determine work procedures such as ISO’s and blueprints. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions. • Ability to take detailed instruction. • Positive “can do” attitude, strong work ethic and a team player. • Good problem-solving abilities, communication skills, aptitude and manual dexterity. • Ability to work with minimum supervision. • Must be able to read & understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings. • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices. • Ability to use Oxy/fuel & Plasma hand cutting torch. • Daily housekeeping of shop and/or work area. • Must be able to work 20-30 feet above ground. • Must be able to provide own general hand tools. Considered a Plus: • Pipe fitting experience with ASME B31.3, B31.4 and API 1104 codes. • Welding and/or tacking experience using GTAW process. • Fit-up & layout experience on structural/misc. steel. • Familiarity with weld inspections, inspection documentation and NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT). • Working knowledge of shop travelers for pressure vessels (ASME VIII–Div. 1) fabrication. • NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter. • Formal/technical education.

Pipefitter Helper

As a pipefitter helper you will assist journeyman in the planning, lay-out, installation, testing and repair all types of piping systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) • Use appropriate hand and power tools to fit and install all types of pipes and/or similar tubular products. • Assist in the installation of all types of piping, including high pressure piping, valves, couplings, and other fittings. • Cut or drill holes in walls to permit passage of pipes. • Select specified type and size of pipe. • Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings to hold pipes. • May disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe. • Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft workers with materials, tools, equipment and supplies. • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary. • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation. • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of craft worker's tools and equipment. • Perform any other routine duties as directed by experienced craft workers. Requirements: • Minimum high school education or General Education Degree. • Experience working in the Pipefitter, Pipe Welder or similar craft as a helper or laborer, and a basic knowledge of the pipe craft. • Developing knowledge of pipefitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems (i.e. carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, poly, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys) and pipe coupling systems (i.e. butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued and fused joints). • Ability to understand and follow directions. In addition, must have all necessary tools/ • Ability to prioritize and maintain strong attention to detail. • Basic communication skills (verbal & written) and working knowledge of English. • Team player. • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and safe work practices.
