Electrical Engineer - Jr Level - Port/Harbor, Offshore Wind

About the position Moffatt & Nichol is searching for Junior Level Electrical Engineers to join our Long Beach, CA, Tampa, FL, Savannah, GA, Norfolk, VA, Walnut Creek, CA, Oakland, CA, or Vancouver, Canada offices. The successful new hire will assist in the planning, design, and plan production for general electrical engineering on a wide variety of projects which may include lighting, power, and grounding plans, one-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, and different project specifications. This role is crucial in supporting the firm’s projects by collaborating with Project Managers and electrical teammates to ensure the successful completion of electrical designs. The Junior Electrical Engineer will be involved in various tasks, including providing design calculations, design drawings, and project specifications for medium/low voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, lightning protection systems, grounding systems, communications systems, and electrical equipment design, including switchboards and switchgear. The role also includes conducting selective coordination and arc flash studies, assisting with the electrical designs of multidiscipline projects, evaluating project scopes, and participating in companywide Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's Degree preferred. , • 1 year of related experience in medium/low voltage power distribution systems, grounding systems, lighting systems, communications systems, and electrical equipment design. , • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit is required. , • Proficiency in ETAP or EasyPower and AGI32. Nice-to-haves • Experience with selective coordination and arc flash studies. Position Specific Description NextEra Energy is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. Associate PGD Engineer shall be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the large scale universal solar and or battery facilities inside the state of Florida. This individual is responsible as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site/s are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs after which may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptions and modifications. Engineers on the FPL solar team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar facilities. This also includes performing routine task such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis. At times, Associate PGD Engineer will be on-call and responsible for the FL Panhandle Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEM’s, Vendors and Contractors as required. Engineer should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering highly preferred.
