Wind Turbine Blade Technician (USA)

Siemens Gamesa Certified Wind Turbine Troubleshooters

Immediate need for Siemens Gamesa Troubleshooters with experience and training on Siemens Gamesa turbines. As a Wind Turbine Troubleshooter, you will be responsible for identifying common, reoccurring, and major component faults on newly operational Siemens G145 wind turbine generators: • Travel to various wind farm sites across the U.S. and Canada for job assignments • Troubleshoot problems on systems where duly trained/certified, including hydraulics, electrical and mechanical to ensure wind turbine and generator is operational and functioning properly • Develop advanced troubleshooting knowledge and skills on site in collaboration with other competent individuals • May perform maintenance tasks • Lead small teams; accountable for the safety, competency and productivity of individuals assigned to them • Keep records, maintains documentation and reports technical, safety issues and difficulties as required by company policy. • Maintain and follows safety procedures as required by company policy. • May assist or perform component replacement, retrofits, and other special assignments • Continue to develop and expand wind maintenance skillset through on-the-job training and train others in performing service work • Work safely, competently and productively under the direction of others Must meet the following requirements, have or obtain the listed required certifications and training (may be provided) including, but not limited to: • Must have 3+ years of successful experience troubleshooting Siemens Gamesa G114, G126, G132, SG145 or Vestas 3.X or 4.X wind turbines • Citizen of or eligible to travel to and work in Canada for extended periods of time (valid passport required) • Ability to work an 8-week on, 1 week off rotation • Physically able to safely climb wind turbines up to 90m+ (300+ feet), stand, stoop, walk, crawl, crouch, stoop and generally meet the physical demands of the position. • Must have solid knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems • Must have maintenance experience, including knowledge of using grease guns, filter changes, using ERAD system, doing torquing and tensioning and similar service • Valid and current driving license with a satisfactory driving record • Must be 21 years of age to be able to drive a company vehicle • Must be able to proficiently read, write and speak English • Satisfactory criminal background check • GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) - fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid • GWO BTT (Basic Technical Training) - electrical, hydraulic, mechanical • SGRE Basic Technician Training/Troubleshooter certified (Family 3 preferred) • OSHA 10 General Industry • Applicable Siemens Gamesa Technical eLearning • Crane, Chain Hoist and Rigging Safety Training • NFPA 70E Arc-Flash Awareness • Prefer training or experience with Touchscreen Controller Hand Terminals

Power Systems Engineer

A Snapshot of Your Day The Power System Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, and debugging grid simulation models on wind power turbines and plant controllers. How You’ll Make an Impact • Development of electrical simulation wind turbine models in MATLAB/SIMULINK. • Develop and validate RMS (PSSE) and EMT (PSCAD) model using the dll obtained from MATLAB/SIMULINK and perform benchmarking. • Analysis of simulation results and identify needed performance/modelling improvements. Benchmarking and validation of wind turbine models against reference data (field/HIL test result). • Modeling of Wind Farms; these models will be used to perform steady state, dynamic, transient and frequency domain simulations. Perform simulations to evaluate compliance to requirements related to: Short Circuit, PQ capability, Voltage limits, overloading, of equipment, other simulations. • Write reports where the input data, results and conclusions of the above simulations will be clearly described. • Support customer communication including meetings as grid subject matter expert. What You Bring • Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering combined with 3-5 years’ experience in electrical models and control development in performing design and grid compliance. • Knowledge of current grid compliance regulations and experience working with grid authorities like ERCOT, NERC, FERC. • Experience performing several types of electrical studies like Harmonic Studies, Load Flow Analysis, Dynamic Stability, Frequency domain analysis, Transient studies. • Experience modeling and simulation of control systems (e.g. current control, voltage control) and power system components (e.g. transmission lines, transformers, generators) in time-domain and frequency-domain. • Desirable experience with wind turbines (DFIG and/or FC technologies), or other converter-based units (e.g. PV, HVDC, STATCOM, Energy Storage) or other generation units (e.g. hydro power plants). Desirable experience with mathematics; numerical analysis, signal processing: filtering, interpolation, FFT, control theory, optimization techniques. • Dedicated, analytical, and able to build and maintain an overview of complex tasks. Good at networking and motivated by working in a strong technical and customer-oriented environment. Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and in written form. • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
