The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing applications and plans for proposed construction, conducting field inspections, and maintaining necessary records related to building permits and plans. This role is crucial in managing construction projects on City property and assisting Public Works staff with infrastructure inspections. The Building Official will also respond to inquiries from various agencies and the public, investigate and resolve violations, and calculate System Development Charges while generating work orders for Public Works staff. Requirements • Five years of increasingly responsible public works or construction business experience and training including at least two years of inspection responsibility. , • High school graduate or equivalency; preference given to Associates' Degree in related field. , • Possession of a valid driver's license. , • Required certifications include BO-Building Official, OIC-OR Inspector Certification, CAP-Residential Plumbing Inspector, CAS-Residential Structural Inspector (ICC B1), CAX-Residential Plans Examiner (ICC R3). , • Additional required certifications within 12 months of hire include SIA-Structural Inspector A-Level (ICC B2), PEA-Plans Examiner A-Level (ICC B3), MIA-Mechanical Inspector A-Level (ICC M2), PEF-Fire and Life Safety Plans Examiner (ICC F3).
