JOB TITLE: Journeyman Plumber SUMMERY: Journeyman Plumbers principal occupation is engaged in the practical installation, alteration, repair, or removal of plumbing and drainage or gas piping. A journeyman plumber may supervise apprentices at job sites. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The essential duties listed below are not all-inclusive, and there may be other job-related duties that are necessary to perform in order to meet the expectations and responsibilities of the position: • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications and follow instructions. • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from job sites. • Must be dependable, reliable and attended work as scheduled. • Must be able dig with shovel. • Must be able operate hand tools and power tools. • Must be proficient with soldering and brazing of copper. • Must be proficient working with PEX piping and fittings. • Must be registered as a Journeyman Plumber with the City of Lincoln. Typical work includes: • Installation of supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment. • Assisting with material delivery and distribution. • Assembly of pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking. • Installation of plumbing fixtures and equipment, such as sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, and trim. • Installation of fire stopping systems. • Assisting with testing of pipe systems; observe pressure gauges and repair of leaks. • Soldering and brazing of copper pipe and fitting. • Coordinate the cleaning and organizing of job site. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Must be in good physical condition. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for long periods of time, as well as frequent walking, stooping and crouching. • The employee must have moderate level of hand to eye coordination and dexterity including (picking, pinching, holding, grasping, and repetitive flexion/rotation. • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. • The employee is frequently required to walk up and down stairs, to climb up and down ladders, and to occasionally enter confined spaces with limited means of ingress and egress. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: • The work is performed at construction sites: this includes building renovations and new construction. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in both indoor and outdoor with extreme high and low temperate conditions. • The employee is exposed to fumes, odors, works at heights, may use power tools, and works with and around machinery having moving parts. • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high, and may require the use of hearing protection.
