Job Description AECOM has a position available for a Renewable Energy Technical Lead to oversee our talented team of engineers and designers working on renewable projects across the country for the US Energy Practice. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States . Our team provides a wide range of engineering services in support of projects across the country. The renewable project scopes include commercial and industrial installations focused on resiliency, efficiency and reliability as well as those utility scale projects seeking to power communities via interconnected networks or local high density installations. Areas of focus include solar photovoltaics (PV), including new technologies in agrivoltaics and floating PV, energy storage (e.g. BESS, supercapacitors), interconnection, wind repowering, new site development and more. We are looking for an up-and-coming leader with a technical diverse background in distributed energy solutions to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our deep existing client base. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in engineering coupled with experience supervising teams and leading tasks on projects. The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following • Support department manager in advancing the culture of technical excellence and accountability • Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers through their individual and team technical development for greater utility to the organization and overall career satisfaction • Provide mentorship to other engineers within the US Energy Practice and other remote teams • Lead improvements in project efficiencies by creating, updating, and implementing group specific standards/templates • Provide input to management on project resourcing and staff forecasting needs • Develop task and deliverable list with associated hours estimate and schedule to support business development activities as it relates to renewable and decentralized energy projects • Support the department’s strategic resourcing initiatives and actively support recruiting efforts • Providing input to management on project resourcing and staff forecasting needs • Project Participation: • Lead by example in engineering execution functioning as technical lead and engineer of record on project • Perform engineering calculations to support and direct construction deliverables (specifications, reports, drawings) • Supporting projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning • Monitor your team’s project progress to ensure quality, on-time and on-budget delivery of projects • Participating in and presenting engineering work at client meetings including those requiring occasional travel • Work with Project Managers on developing design schedules and budgets for engineering work activities • Provide quality control reviews of work developed by others • Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of the design work At AECOM, we’re delivering a better world. Qualifications Minimum Requirements • BA/BS (Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering preferred) from ABET accredited university • 6+ years of relevant experience • Experience must include design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems • Current professional engineering license (PE) Preferred Qualifications • Minimum four (4) years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred • 12+ years of relevant experience preferred • Highly Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel desired • Experience with other software in the industry such as NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope, Homer, ETAP, WindPRO, • Capable of system financial estimation (Capex, Opex), PPA recommendation and calculating ROI • MV AC Collection System Design Experience • Special design experience: floating PV, fuel cells • Proficient with the NEC, as well as related codes such as IBC and NFPA 855 • Deep knowledge of utility practices, industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, PIP etc.). • Interest in developing talented technical teams • Able to lead engineering tasks with strong communication skills (written and verbal) • Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish. • Field construction and commissioning experience Additional Information • Relocation is not available for this role • Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future for this position Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
