Sheet Metal Instructor (TEACHER CONDITIONAL)

Main Purpose of Job To create a classroom learning environment in which assigned inmate students make measurable progress toward identified educational goals as indicated by the successful completion of requirements for the Maryland Certificate of Achievement in Adult Literacy and Life Skills and / or Maryland High School Diploma. POSITION DUTIES Duties may include, but are not limited to : • Provide instruction in a variety of methods to include whole group, small group, and individualized instruction consistent with the approved curriculum. • Plan and organize time, in advnace, to provide effective instruction. • Use informal and form assesement tools to provide reliable and valid appraisal of student skills and acheivement. • Maintain and submit program and instructional records in an accurate and timely manner. • Create a physcial and interpersonal climate that is conducive to learning. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education : Possession of appropriate educational credentials as determined by the Maryland State Board of Education. Experience : None. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s). 1. Experience working with incarcerated individuals preferred. 2. Field experience with metal, welding, and fabrication. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Teachers in State operated school programs are required to acquire and maintain certification to teach in the State of Maryland per Education Article, Section 6-101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) Applicants recommended for appointment will be required to complete an Authorization and Verification of Credentials. Press Brake Operator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Operate press break machine. · Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches. · Use a controller to input information into machine with assistance if needed. · Adjust ram and back gauge locations per process control instructions and blueprints. · Checks height, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments. · Work with tight tolerances. · Produce parts for assembly operations. · Meet customer specifications and delivery requirements. · Start programming machine to produce new parts meeting specifications. · Perform spot inspections of parts. · Perform minor maintenance activities according to procedures. · Set up light gauge metal. · Configure bend allowances for sheet metal (stainless, aluminum & regular steel). · Ensure machine cleaned and assist in calibration. · Read drawings and blueprints. · Other duties as deemed appropriate by supervisor and management. QUALIFICATIONS · High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. · 1-3 years of experience. · Solid background working with metal preferred. · Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance preferred. · Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills. · Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass. · Candidate must be a strong team player and reliable. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT · Constant standing. · Constant lifting 50 lbs. or more. WAGE $ $30.00 per hour.
