Position: A Brake Operator Location: Scott City, MO Department: Fabrication Shifts Available: 1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM Reports To: Fabrication Manager About Us Schaefer's Electrical Enclosures is a leading manufacturer of high-quality metal electrical enclosures and custom fabrications serving customers nationwide. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced A Brake Operator to safely and accurately set up and operate a press brake to bend, form, and shape sheet metal components according to specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, an eye for detail, and the ability to read shop drawings/blueprints in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities • Set up and operate press brake equipment to bend sheet metal to precise dimensions • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and shop drawings • Select correct tooling/dies based on material, thickness, and bend requirements • Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet quality and dimensional specifications • Make machine adjustments to maintain part accuracy and consistency • Perform basic machine preventive maintenance as required • Safely move raw materials and finished parts (manual or assisted) • Maintain clean and organized work area • Follow all safety protocols, policies, and work instructions • Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Required • High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to read blueprints and measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.) • Strong understanding of bend allowances, tolerances, and sequencing • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment • Strong attention to detail and quality • Ability to perform basic math and conversions Preferred • 1-2 years of press brake operation or related fabrication experience • Sheet metal fabrication experience • Experience working with brake press CNC controls • Prior manufacturing experience Physical Requirements • Standing for long periods of time • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Why Join Schaefer's? • Stable, growing company with strong local roots • Team-oriented culture • Ongoing training and skill development • Competitive pay and benefits Equal Opportunity Employer Schaefer's Electrical Enclosures is an equal opportunity employer.
