Sheetmetal Specialist

About the position Duncan Aviation is seeking a dedicated Sheetmetal Specialist to join our team in Provo, UT. As the largest family-owned maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in the world, we pride ourselves on providing comprehensive nose-to-tail services for business aircraft. This position is full-time, with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 3:30 PM. The Sheetmetal Specialist will be responsible for performing repairs and alterations to sheet metal and composites, fabricating and installing aircraft parts and assemblies in compliance with FAA requirements and Duncan Aviation's approved procedures. The role requires working in a safe, clean, and organized environment, with limited supervision. The specialist will fabricate parts, assemblies, and antenna doublers from metal stock and composites, install new and fabricated parts in specified aircraft locations, and collaborate with senior technicians and engineering team members to design installations as needed. In addition to fabrication and installation, the Sheetmetal Specialist will disassemble and reassemble aircraft interiors, instrument panels, and avionics equipment bays, ensuring proper handling and storage techniques. The role also involves performing corrosion control processes, documenting work completed on work orders, and maintaining a personal training log. The specialist will utilize technical reference materials, maintain current industry knowledge, and assist less experienced technicians in interpreting company policies and FAA regulations. The position may require working alternate shifts and traveling for road trips within the United States and internationally as needed. Responsibilities • Fabricate parts, assemblies, and antenna doublers from metal stock and composites using correct fasteners in accordance with FAA approved documents. , • Install new and fabricated parts, assemblies, and antenna doublers in specified aircraft locations in pressurized and non-pressurized aircraft. , • Work with senior technicians and Engineering team members to design installations as needed. , • Identify locations for secondary avionics system components such as relays, terminal strips, and terminal blocks. , • Disassemble and reassemble aircraft interior, instrument panels, and avionics equipment bays prior to and/or following installation. , • Perform appropriate corrosion control processes upon completion of parts and fixtures before installation. , • Enter descriptions of work completed on work orders and maintain personal training log. , • Demonstrate knowledge and use of technical reference materials, including aircraft technical manuals and parts catalogs. , • Maintain current industry, equipment, and FAA knowledge by attending factory classes and researching technical documents. , • Assist lesser experienced technicians in interpreting Company policies and FARs. , • Be available to work all department alternate shifts and travel as needed. Requirements • High school diploma or GED required. , • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving records required. , • Two years of previous sheet metal, aircraft structures, fabrication, or related experience required for Sheetmetal Specialist II. , • Four years of previous sheet metal, aircraft structures, fabrication, or related experience required for Sheetmetal Specialist III. , • Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs and tolerate working in confined spaces and at heights above four feet. Nice-to-haves • Experience with FAA regulations and documentation. , • Knowledge of corrosion control processes. , • Familiarity with aircraft technical manuals and parts catalogs.
