Job Description Job Description An HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) project manager / estimator bids, designs, plans, and oversees installation of HVAC systems in new construction or existing buildings for residential and commercial. They work with a variety of professionals, including homeowners, building owners, developers, architects, engineers, and other contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Responsibilities: • Review weekly bid opportunities on plan exchange and collaborate with the management team to select jobs aligning with our expertise. • Stay updated on rebates and financing options to offer customers the best value. • Meet with customers to assess their needs, recommend suitable equipment with available incentives, and compile detailed quotes. • Work with office staff and follow up on submitted bids. • Complete client proposals and send them to clients in a timely manner. • Participate in the conceptual development of projects and ensure the HVAC systems meet customer needs. • Manage and supervise HVAC installers and technicians throughout various projects. • Plan, organize, schedule, and direct manpower, equipment, tools, and supply needs. • Develop and track the project schedule. • Establish cost control centers to track equipment, material, labor, subcontracts, and other costs. • Communicate accurately and concisely with internal and external personnel. • Provide training for foremen, installers, technicians, or trainees. • Manage administrative aspects of contracts, such as change orders, submittals, RFI’s, rental equipment, coding, billing, expenses, and collections. • Procure and manage project subcontractors and equipment vendors. • Inspect the jobsite regularly for contract compliance, workmanship, and safety. • Follow-up on any required warranty work and maintain contact with owner to ensure customer satisfaction. • Manage large jobs with minimal supervision. • Estimate changes in scope of work. Project Management and Support: • Evaluate the most efficient and high-quality approach to complete each project. • Maintain and update estimating software to ensure accurate pricing. • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (vendors, contractors, homeowners) for seamless project execution. • Collaborate with project managers to create and update project schedules • Provide clear instructions to crews based on project details and bid specifications. • Ensure crews have the necessary tools and equipment for successful completion. • Create strategy and goals for team productivity and quality of work. Technical Expertise and Customer Focus: • Review finalized job details, compare them to bids, and report discrepancies to management. • Assist in attracting new customers through various initiatives. • Compile project submittals, RFI’s, and change orders. • Troubleshoot and provide conflict resolution. • As needed, provide hands-on support in installing equipment, ductwork, and fittings. • Assist with building ductwork and metal fabrication (depending on your experience level). Minimum Requirements: • 10 years HVAC experience with strong in-depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems or 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management and HVAC background • Advanced understanding of layout, design, fabrication, and installation of HVAC systems • Estimating program experience • Knowledge of mechanical systems, sheet metal fabrication, and duct design. • Ability to manage a project from development and stakeholder engagement through implementation and evaluation • Ability to read, interpret, utilize and train on manuals, schematics, and control circuits related to HVAC systems • Knowledge of state and local codes • Ability to motivate, manage, and train a team of employees at various skill levels • Demonstrate attention to detail • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while under pressure • Strong troubleshooting and conflict resolutions skills Abilities Required: • Exceptional Verbal and Written Communication Skills • Excellent organizational skills • Superb customer service skills • Manage and prioritize tasks • Good computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Service System, Design Program • Ability to kneel/stand for long periods of time and lift to 75 pounds. • Solid knowledge of new construction process, including new construction, remodels, commercial. • Keep a positive, open-mind, personable, and be energic even while troubleshooting in stressful situations.
