Position: • Pipefitter Department: • Operations Location: • Project Based Direct Report: • Superintendent Responsibilities: • Read and understand plans and specifications including blue prints and isometric drawings • Visualize two dimensional isometric drawings in three dimensions • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain, and take any corrective action needed • Use appropriate hand and power tools to fit, install, disassemble, and/or remove: • Specified type and size of pipe • Pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings to hold pipe • Install valves • Couplings and other fittings • Utilize threading machines for the installation of small bore screw pipe • Utilize pipe cutting mechanisms including beveling machine to cut large bore pipe to specified lengths • Lift, position and secure materials and work pieces during installation • Utilize pipe fitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and pipe couplings including: butt welded, socket welded, threaded, grooved, and fused joints • Calculates pipe take offs and completes mathematical calculations in accordance with industry practice • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards • Plan and lay out the installation of large bore and small bore pipe around structural and mechanical elements by clearly communicating objectives with welders and fitter helpers • Follow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area • Understand and implement lockout/tag out procedures in a safe manner. • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards • All other duties as assigned by the site superintendent Physical Requirements: • Frequent walking and climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain) • Frequent lifting (up to and including 50 pounds) • Frequent bending, twisting and standing • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required Experience: • Must have five or more years of experience fitting screw, small bore, and large bore industrial piping • Candidates should have previous experience with rigging of pipe for construction applications • Must be able to read ISOs and create spool drawling • Must have strong mathematical abilities • Must be able to calculate tie in points and other site construction efforts in a high paced environment • Must be able to forecast needs and prepare work accordingly • Must have a working knowledge of pipeline fabrication Education: • High School Diploma or equivalent Licenses or Certifications: • OSHA 10 Certification preferred • NCCER Pipefitter certification preferred Travel: • Travel is required EEO: • MEC Construction LLC (MEC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
