This position has 5 or more years of experience and is considered to have mastery knowledge of piping and wet side HVAC applications. A Pipefitter III works unsupervised. This position repairs and replaces piping systems, pipe supports and equipment for heating/cooling commercial and industrial applications. A Pipefitter III also performs equipment startups and check outs. • In-depth knowledge of wet-side commercial applications and design. • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain HVAC piping systems. • Repair and replace piping systems, pipe supports, and equipment for heating/cooling commercial and industrial applications. • Equipment start-up and check-out. • Document work by completing paperwork and backup documentation. • 5 plus years’ experience. • Current journeyman license or able to obtain. • OSHA training; uphold high standards of safety at all times. • Experience with blueprint reading and layout. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Able to multi-task and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally. • Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment, including ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED Texas journeyman plumber's license Valid Texas driver's license Special Knowledge Skills: Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques Basic knowledge of plumbing codes Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material Ability to perform mathematical calculations Ability to diagnose and resolve problems Ability to work independently Experience: Five years' experience in building maintenance/plumbing field Major Responsibilities and Duties: Maintenance and Repair • Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. • Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders. • Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc. • Perform annual gas inspection of all district facilities. • Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption. • Receive and complete work orders. • Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates - send hard quotes to admin assistances for purchases. • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. • Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects. • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures. • Respond to emergency calls as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned.
