In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Pipefitter will be expected to read blueprints to identify the locations of various pipe systems, disassemble and assemble shipboard systems, and operate specialized equipment such as pipe threading machines and pipe benders. The position also requires the fabrication of various pipes to quality assurance standards, testing and operating hydro pumps, and determining the sizes and schedules of pipes and fittings necessary for system fabrication and repair. The ability to work at heights, including up to 100 feet, is essential, as is the proper care and safe use of hand and power tools. Rigging knowledge and the ability to make competent weldments are also important aspects of this role. Responsibilities • Perform work as an individual or as part of a multi-craft work crew with minimal supervision. , • Comply with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures. , • Recognize and trace various pipe systems aboard vessels. , • Disassemble and assemble shipboard systems as needed. , • Read blueprints to identify locations of various pipe systems. , • Operate pipe threading machines, pipe benders, and Oakey bevelers. , • Lay out, target, and fabricate various pipes to quality assurance standards. , • Test and operate hydro pumps up to 5,000 psi. , • Determine sizes and schedules of pipes and fittings for fabrication and repair. , • Set up and operate flushing machines. , • Use a tape measure accurately. , • Complete sustained work at various heights, including up to 100 feet. , • Care for and safely use hand and power tools and all company property. , • Perform rigging related to pipe and valve systems, including standards, terms, signals, and safe working loads. , • Make competent weldments, targeting pipe and hanger. Requirements • Proven experience as a pipefitter or in a similar role within a shipyard or industrial setting. , • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. , • Strong knowledge of various pipe systems and their applications. , • Experience operating pipe threading machines and pipe benders. , • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in a shipyard setting. , • Ability to work at heights and in various environmental conditions. , • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools related to pipefitting.
