If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Pipefitter to join our dynamic team! As a Pipefitter, you will play a vital role in piping residential and commercial natural gas services, securing the flow from meter to existing fuel lines, and ensuring the safe operation of customer appliances. Responsibilities: As a Pipefitter at DDS, you will contribute to the growth and security of our natural gas distribution network. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Safely and efficiently performing daily assigned tasks, adhering to the highest industry standards and guidelines. • Operating in diverse environments, including public rights-of-way, private properties, commercial areas, and residential spaces, to ensure the uninterrupted flow of natural gas. • Demonstrating exemplary care for company equipment and materials, maintaining cleanliness, and following proper storage protocols. • Adhering to instructions and guidelines to promote a collaborative and cohesive work environment. • Displaying proficiency in operating backhoes and other smaller equipment, if required for the job. Skills and Experience: Required: • A minimum of 2 years of pipefitting experience, reflecting your expertise in handling gas distribution projects. • Successful completion of Operator Qualification Testing for Natural Gas work, demonstrating your commitment to safety and quality. • Possession of a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record. • Lift and move heavy objects (up to 100 pounds) and pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical assessment test. • Flexibility to travel up to 60 miles from your home to our project sites. Some weekend work may be required. Preferred: • A High School Diploma or Vocational training in a closely related field, highlighting your dedication to continuous learning and professional growth. • 2 – 4 years of working with natural gas. • Commercial Driver’s License. • Mechanical inclination, demonstrating your aptitude for problem-solving and contributing to the efficiency of our operations. Pipefitter Job Duties : Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to job specifications. Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions. Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers. Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine. Threads pipe using threading machine. Bends pipe by hand or with pipe-bending tools and machine. Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe. Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded caulked, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools. Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools. Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meter, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping. Tests piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. Welds pipe supports to structural steel members. Observes production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to detect machinery malfunctions. Loads, transports, and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies. Performs minor maintenance of cleaning activities of tools and equipment. Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures Performs other duties as required.

About the position Responsibilities • Repair and maintain piping systems by replacing defective pipes through cutting, bending, threading, and assembling. • Solder and caulk leaks and broken pipes. • Open clogged drains using plumber's snake or vacuum plunger. • Replace worn washers or other parts in leaky valves or taps. • Cut passage holes in walls and floors for pipe installation. • Cover steam lines with thermal insulation. • Install pipes, fittings, and fixtures as per layout and materials provided by the supervisor. Requirements • Two years of full-time experience in plumbing and/or steamfitting work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson. • Completion of a two-year technical school course in plumbing and/or steamfitting or equivalent training. • Possession of a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. • Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program is preferred. Nice-to-haves • Asbestos certification within 90 days of appointment. • Ability to operate a variety of forklifts (OSHA certification provided after appointment).
