The HVAC System Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for working with the HVAC Craft and maintaining the HVAC PM program while maintaining or supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. Open to internal candidates only Job Summary The successful candidate will function as the Mechanical Facilities HVAC Systems Engineer for the Facilities Branch in the Asset Management Group at AEDC. Job Duties • HVAC System Engineer role to review, plan and program the maintenance, repair and replacement of Mechanical systems. • Ensure Mechanical systems are in serviceable condition with support for responsive repairs and long-term planning for improvements • Evaluate systems condition, update system records and maintain and update records of system issues and resolutions. • Ensures all regulatory requirements are complied with and all ASME, NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA and UFC codes and regulations are met. • Provide technical guidance to craft personnel in setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and removal of systems. • Performs direct oversight of service contract vendors, develops statements of work and approves invoices. • Interface / collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, craft supervision and planners / schedulers, to ensure that the systems they are responsible for are ready to run properly when required and that maintenance outages are planned, coordinated, and properly scheduled. • Follow configuration management and asset management processes with all system records • Attends and participates in Capital Projects Requirements Reviews and Design Reviews for all projects affecting Facilities Mechanical Systems. • Develop and update written Work Instructions for HVAC Building System Assets as required to maintain and repair systems. • Ensure all records and requirements are performed in the Builder asset evaluation system. • Works with DDC (Direct Digital Controls), a program that controls the HVAC within many of the office buildings on base, also works with the DDC vendor on troubleshooting and installation of controls. • Monitors the Hot Water and Chilled Water closed loop systems and have them tested two times a year by an outside contractor. • Monitors the two cooling towers and meets with the vendor on chemical levels and issues. • Input Work Requests as needed for repairs within the HVAC system. • Exemplifies the company core value and covenant of safety in all aspects of the job including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy. • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. • Performs other related duties as required. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university plus a minimum of 0 - 5 years of progressive and relevant experience. • Knowledge of mechanical systems repair, maintenance and installation in a large industrial complex. • Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems. • Current US Citizenship required Preferred Qualifications • Knowledge of mechanical/HVAC designs, and how to read drawings. • Knowledge of ASME, UFC, and ASHRAE • Knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the mechanical engineering discipline • Active DOD security clearance • Good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the mechanical engineering discipline. • Good interpersonal skills, to include both oral and written communication.
