Journeyman Electrician

The ideal candidate would have a State of Hawaii Journeyman Electrician license. The candidate must be someone that can complete jobs unsupervised and in a timely manner. Ability to read and understand electrical plans, put together material lists, supervise projects and apprentices, and familiar with NEC. Must be able to complete light paperwork (work orders) in a timely manner. Superior customer service is one of the utmost importance. Experience with residential work is required along with commercial experience including pipe bending. Must have your own tools. Salary: $6,321.00 Monthly Location : Maui County (various), HI Job Type: Permanent Full-Time Job Number: R-10900 (A) Department: Department of Environmental Management Opening Date: 03/14/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Description Installs, maintains, overhauls and repairs plant electrical and electronic control devices and equipment; and performs other related duties as required. Distinguishing Characteristics: This class differs from that of Electrician in that the Plant Electrician/Electronic Repairer I independently installs, maintains, overhauls and repairs plant electrical and electronic control devices and equipment; whereas the Electrician performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment. Examples of Duties The following are examples of duties and are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in this class. The omission of specific duties statements does not preclude management from assigning such duties if such duties are a logical assignment for the position. Installs, maintains, overhauls and repairs plant electrical and electronic control devices and equipment such as switching devices, solid state and selenium rectifiers, resistors, capacitors, relays, temperature controls, pressure switches, high and low voltage switchgears, motor control centers, motors, generators, overhead cranes, and distribution, power, current, control and lighting transformers, etc.; installs, maintains and repairs power, lighting, electrical and electronic circuits, conduits, electrical outlets, meter loops, underground and high and low voltage wiring, pole and line wiring, power transfer switching equipment, mercury vapor and fluorescent lighting, photo cell controls, etc.; inspects and tests equipment for shorts, grounds and open circuits and diagnoses faulty circuits; identifies, isolates and corrects defective circuits; renews and repairs defective parts and fabricates various parts using materials of appropriate conducting, resistance and/or insulating properties; performs shop and bench work in the overhaul, repair, testing and calibration of equipment and components; installs, maintains, overhauls, repairs and calibrates electrical and electronic laboratory and field instruments; reads and interprets wiring diagrams and schematics; modifies electrical and electronic circuitry for proper operational needs; estimates material requirements; may supervise the work of helpers; may operate a motor vehicle . Minimum Qualification Requirements Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of plant electrical and electronic equipment, instruments, and devices. License Requirement: Possession of a current Hawaii State journey electrician's or industrial electrician 's license; and possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license (equivalent to State of Hawaii State Type 3). Knowledge of: the theories of electricity and electronics; practices, tools, equipment, instruments and materials used in electrical and electronic repair; installation, maintenance, testing and repair of plant electrical and electronic control devices and equipment; hazards and safety practices of the trade. DSUS Electrician

Overview Performs a variety of functions such as installation, maintenance, and repair on all electrical systems of any baggage handling, passenger boarding bridges, facilities and related equipment. Responsibilities • Performs maintenance and repair of baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges and related equipment. • Executes complex maintenance assignments involving but not limited to automotive, electrical, systems and other related trade skill sets. • Conducts daily and periodic shift inspections, cleaning, and diagnostics of electrical system components based on an established scheduled preventive maintenance program. • Troubleshoots and repair all control system and electrical failures by applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve problems by interpreting manufacturer manuals or similar documents. • Run conduit, change motors, repair circuits, rewire, repair wiring, etc. as needed. • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical components based on an established scheduled preventive maintenance program to include, but not limited to, motors, clutches, brakes, bearings, drive belts, drive shafts, pulleys, gearboxes (speed reducers), and conveyor belting. • Complete Pm Checklist in accordance with established procedures, document accordingly in applicable computer program. • Remove and replace plug-in type boards and components. Align, replace, and clear photocells. • Makes repairs of connectors, wiring and fuses on-site, and cleans and performs diagnostic routines of electrical and control system components. • Maintain work orders in applicable computer program. • Works in tight and/or high spaces utilizing appropriate PPE and fall protection equipment. • Follows and complies with all company and federally established policies and procedures • Utilizes a computer to perform a variety of communications, training and administrative processes. • Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures. • Completes all safety training as assigned by the Company. • Compliance with all ELS safety programs, policies and procedures. • Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time.
