Carpenter - Skilled

Alyeska Builders is looking to add additional skilled carpenters to our team! We are eager to find team members that are looking to advance their skills, and form a career in the construction field. We have big dreams as a company, and want our team to be a part of those dreams (and those wins) with us! Alyeska Builders is a general contractor, with several specialty carpenter crews within. 1. Rough structure / framing crew. This crew primarily handles the ’shell’ of our construction projects. Exterior framing (walls & roof), installing roof coverings (shingle or metal), setting exterior doors and windows, installing siding, etc. This crew does transition in the winter months to assist with other interior work such as installing vapor barrier, insulation, or other finishes. This crew may assist with flooring projects, demo scopes for remodels, snow removal, and more. 2. Finish carpentry crew. This crew primarily focuses on everything that happens after drywall and painting. I.e. flooring installation, cabinetry installation, interior trim work, specialty wood finishes, interior door installation, tile work. (Not all of our finish crews do tile work) This crew may also assist with other types of work when manpower is needed in another area. (To include demo scopes for remodels, snow removal, and more). Duties of all carpenter positions: - Use of power tools. - Ability to effectively read / utilize a tape measure. Measure & cut materials for installation. - - Daily job reports for work performed. - Maintain a cleanly job-site and appearance. - Must be able to easily lift 50 lbs. - Quality control for work being completed. (If you make a bad cut, don’t leave it, cut a new one and leave an outstanding product). - Ensure safety protocols are followed. - Coordinate construction project activities. - Review blueprints or project specifications. JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum (2) years construction experience. - Valid driver's license. - Willing & able to pass a drug test. OSHA-10 Certification All field and other applicable employees including but not limited to field, foreman and superintendents are required to hold a valid OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification prior to beginning employment. If you do not currently possess this certification, Alyeska Builders will provide access to an approved OSHA-10 training course at no cost to you. The training must be completed on your own time and submitted to the company prior to your hire date. Failure to provide proof of a completed OSHA10 training and certification may result in termination of employment and/or disqualification of hire. Driving Record & Compliance Positions that require operation of a company vehicle or driving on behalf of Alyeska Builders are subject to motor vehicle record (MVR) reviews upon hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Continued employment in a driving capacity is contingent upon maintaining a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.Employees are required by company policy and applicable law to report any motor vehicle violation, including but not limited to a DUI, license suspension, or any other traffic-related offense, to Alyeska Builders within 48 hours of the incident. Failure to report such violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Holding a valid drivers license with a clean driving record is a condition of employment. Receiving a major violation, a suspension or revocation or frequent citations may also result in termination of employment. Continued Education Alyeska Builders is committed to supporting ongoing employee development and maintaining high industry standards. All employees are required to complete at least one (1) company-approved continued education or training course every six (6) months as a condition of continued employment. Alyeska Builders provides access to approved training materials at no cost; however, all continued education must be completed on the employee’s own time. SCHEDULE DETAILS Our crew works year round - ability to work overtime is required. Monday - Friday is standard, however, Saturdays are common based on work load on any given week. Carpenter - UIC Construction

Overview UIC Construction is seeking a Carpenter to construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways. Responsibilities Essential functions will include: • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws. • Follow established safety rules, regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment. • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. • Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools. • Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level. • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools. • Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools, wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools. • Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures. • Operate basic construction equipment such as forklifts and man-lifts. • Additional duties as assigned.
