Position Overview As a Wind Site Technician, you’ll ensure the smooth operation of wind turbines, directly addressing maintenance, troubleshooting, and system issues. Your contributions are vital in maintaining clean, reliable energy for local communities, regardless of your background in wind, electrical, mechanical, or heavy machinery sectors. Key Responsibilities · Maintain and repair wind turbines with your team to keep communities powered. · Adhere to safety protocols and perform safety inspections. · Collaborate with your team to improve turbine performance and share best practices. · Document your work and continuously improve operational processes. · Accurately time code all work activities to support clear tracking of task duration, progress, and operational efficiency. Who You Are · At least 6 months with a Wind Technician certificate, or 1 year of wind turbine experience, or 2 years in mechanical or electrical fields. · Highly developed problem-solving abilities and an engaged approach to responsibilities. · Safety-conscious and committed to best practices. · Able to work well with others and enjoy collaborative environments. · Physically fit, comfortable working in various conditions, and at heights. · Ability to speak, read and follow instructions in English. · You have a high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid driver’s license, and are legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship. Primary Responsibilities • Perform maintenance and/or installation work on assigned wind turbines under minimal supervision. • Follow defined schedules, procedures, safety protocols, and verbal/written instructions. • Provide mentorship and guidance to entry-level technicians. • Travel initially required to other sites for training. • Work outdoors, often in challenging weather conditions, at heights up to 250 feet and within small, confined spaces. • Climb stairs and ladders while carrying up to 50 lbs. of tools and equipment. • Operate and understand intermediate-level power tools such as hydraulic, power torque, and diagnostic tools. • Read, interpret, and understand drawings and schematics. • Collaborate with teammates and effectively communicate with customers. • Contribute recommendations to improve safety, quality, and efficiency. Required Experience • High School Diploma or equivalent. • At least 1 year of technical wind industry experience OR Six (6) months of technical wind industry experience and a certificate of completion from a wind technician program OR A minimum of three (3) years’ electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, composite skills, or heavy machinery experience. • Ability to climb stairs and ladders while carrying up to 50 lbs. • Experience with intermediate-level power tools (e.g., Flukemeter functions, hydraulic pressure gauge). • Valid driver’s license. • Basic computer skills, internet-based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data. • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and follow safety protocols. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Required Education • High School Diploma or equivalent. Work Environment • This position involves working outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. • Regular work at heights up to 250 feet. • Requires climbing, carrying tools and equipment, and working in small spaces. • Initial travel to other sites for training is required.
