Welder US-PA-Pottsville Job ID: 2024-2542 Type: Regular Full-Time # of Openings: 1 Category: Quarry Pottsville Quarry Overview Pottsville Quarry and Asphalt is seeking a Welder to fabricate and repair new and/or sed items of various kinds of metal in a face-paced shop. The ideal candidate is safety focused, team oriented, motivated, and takes initiative. Why work for Pottsville Quarry and Asphalt? • Competitive salary commensurate with experience • Excellent Health, Dental, and Vision Benefits • 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan • Tuition reimbursement programs available to qualifying employees for approved programs • Additional training programs including on the job, online through H&K Academy, manufacturer offered training, and more Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Performs all work according to OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies • Receives direction orally or written from shop foreman on plans of fabrication or repair for the day’s tasks. • Evaluates the job to verify that supplies are on hand to complete the task. • Tracks progress and communicates with supervisors in the event of an unscheduled repair requirement that would lead to the loss of production that would otherwise be completed as scheduled. • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the job. • Reads prints, then measures, cuts, fits, tacks, welds, and polishes various types of metals by varying types of process. • Other duties may be assigned Qualifications Required Skills, Education, and Experience • High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR 2 years of related experience and/or training • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered • Able to use mechanics hand tools, welder (SMAW, GTAW, GCAW, GMAW), plasma cutter, and torches • Valid driver license • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience • Degree (such as bachelor or associate) or certificate welding or related program from an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school • 3 years related experience • AWS D1.1 or AWS D1.2 Certification • Experience in Wastewater services, heavy civil construction, or other heavy industry Physical Demands • Occasionally required to: • Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl • Use hands to finger or feel • Talk and hear • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds Work Environment • Occasionally exposed to: • Moving parts • Fumes and/or airborne particles • Extreme heat • Risk of shock • Noise level is loud at times • Hours regularly exceed 40/week and 8/day Pottsville Quarry and Pottsville Asphalt (formerly Pottsville Materials) is a producer of high-quality construction aggregate and asphalt products located near Pottsville, PA.
