Skills- Some welding experience with Steel/Aluminum/Stainless Steel Must be very proficient welding with 7018 Tig welding experience preferred Being able to work independently is a must. The ideal applicant will have the opportunity to learn how to fabricate PA-18 fuselages, tail feathers, landing gears, as well as many other aircraft parts and outdoor equipment. We need an individual that can work efficiently and maintain a high level of accuracy and quality. All aircraft parts are made from 4130 steel, stainless steel, or Titanium. Major Responsibilities • Fabricate and weld metal components according to specifications with limited supervision. • Applies appropriate welding techniques to produce quality welds • TIG weld parts to FAA approved manufacturing guidelines • Perform final inspections of assemblies created in fabrication shop • Repeatably create parts conforming to our design data • Successfully assemble smaller subassemblies such as wing fittings, float fittings, etc. with minimal rework required upon final inspection. • Layout and weld mods to landing gear to include the final seal weld under the supervision of the shop foreman. • Ability to learn to weld all four major fuselage subassemblies. Little rework on welds is expected at the final inspection stage once trained. • Fit and weld landing gear legs • Meets weekly production welding goals • Work well in teamwork environment • Perform general clean up tasks, including sweeping work areas, maintain, clean machinery and equipment and basic housekeeping. • Work unsupervised on a regular basis. • Perform other tasks as assigned by the foreman or manager. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Must be 18 years of age or older • Must have at least one year of TIG welding experience • Must have experience inspecting and repairing welds to meet conformity of weld specs • Must be able to read drawings • Must be able to operate the power tools common to the welding trade • Ability to learn processes and procedures • Ability to take direction well and follow through with little or no supervision • Must be adaptable and flexible; have a track record as a team player; detail-oriented, capable of working independently and effectively; self-motivated; and able to meet deadlines.
