Lead Installer

Overview The Lead Installer position is a contributing member of a solar installation construction crew. The Lead Installer is responsible to work as a team to complete residential solar installation projects. This position will have the additional responsibility of guiding and coordinating fellow installers on a daily basis. • Get recognized for your hard work! Responsibilities • Review inventory at loading dock to ensure assigned crew truck is stocked adequately • Layout and assemble solar modules, mechanical and structural mounts, electrical equipment and tools in preparation of installation • Apply weather sealing to roofing structure, building or support mechanisms • Assemble the racking, solar modules, panels or support structures as specified in project plan • Ensure a clean and orderly job site • Perform project clean up including client site and installation vehicle • Ensure personal, crew and job site safety at all times • Participate in mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology and safety • Lead crew through safe, effective and efficient installations • Provide leadership, technical expertise and support to fellow crew members • When assigned assist with solar battery installations • May serve as 'acting Foreperson' in the Forepersons' absence. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Previous solar installation experience required. Applicants with equivalent construction or military experience may be considered • Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Big Island Solar Technician

Sunspear Energy is seeking a Solar Technician in Kailua-Kona, HI, responsible for supporting the design, troubleshooting, and commissioning of residential solar photovoltaic and battery storage systems. This role involves site surveys, customer interaction, and collaboration with design teams. Key tasks include documenting sites, performing system commissioning, and ensuring project closeout. A friendly attitude is essential for customer engagement. Solar Technician will work to support the initial design, system troubleshooting, and final project closeout and commissioning of code-compliant residential solar photovoltaic & battery storage systems adhering to Sunspear quality standards. This is a multi-faceted role in that Solar Technician will grow to become competent in performing initial site surveys for residential projects to hand off to the drafting & design teams. Solar Technician will learn and employ troubleshooting techniques for the different Solar system configurations and manufacturers. Solar Technician will be able to complete the final project close-out steps required on-site. This role will also require direct interaction and communication with residential customers, so a friendly and positive attitude is a must to ensure our customers have a wonderful Sunspear experience. Responsibilities and Duties Site Survey · Complete residential site inspections, which includes documenting the site with panoramic photos or using wide angle photos, using any technology tools requested, such as Augmented Reality equipment layout tools to create equipment installation visualizations and more · Create drone maps of project sites and upload drone maps to the data server · Access rooftops as needed by ladder to verify roof conditions, document with photos, and physically measure dimensions as needed. · Be able to effectively and succinctly communicate with customers during the initial face-to-face greeting and/or on the phone or text. · Document the project site with photos using company-provided devices and upload them to the company server and project management software, proactively moving projects to the next stage following a site inspection. · Communicate with the Design and engineering team to ensure quality and explicit understanding of information that is handed to the next stage in the process to complete the system design: Quality In, Quality Out. System Commissioning, Troubleshooting & Project Closeout · Complete the Commissioning steps required to activate residential energy systems, including Tesla Powerwall, SolarEdge, Enphase, SunPower Equinox, and any or all PV systems. · Working with the electricians and roofers to ensure systems are ready to be easily commissioned. · Access/document electrical distribution panels and other equipment safety · Remove/add breakers and production CTs in the main service panel · Perform procedure development and best practices for safety and quality. · Complete on-site diagnosis of systems · Use phone-based applications to perform real-time site reports. · Document time and workflow with schedulers and supervisor · Access/document electrical distribution panels and other equipment safety · After construction, provide support as required to create as-built drawings and procure and install placards for labeling on-site. · Upload site maps to online portals for all monitoring systems, including but not limited to Enphase, SolarEdge, SunPower Equinox, etc. · After project construction, placards on electrical equipment and collecting photos for submittal to HECO. · Collect photos of the equipment program settings for HECO to ensure quick closeout of PV installations. · Uploading all system QR codes to OneDrive and commission QR codes online · Any other project engineering required items to ensure the success of a construction project · Assist in developing and documenting industry best practices, standards and guidelines. · Utilize software systems to record progress of various tasks. · Organizing photos and documentation in data server Be open to change, be creative, optimistic, and set the example for team culture. · Work to meet and exceed design Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including, but not limited to, quality, output, cycle time and difficulty · Participate in training modules, including but not limited to SunPower Training, Span training, Tesla, and SolarEdge training, and more to ensure constant learning goals to increase the solar knowledge base · Stay up to date with the evolving Solar PV and Battery landscape and be constantly prepared for industry-related changes · If required, manage your personal calendar and schedule prioritizing Site Surveys and Commissioning in conjunction with the needs of the department as directed by the Operations Administrator or other project stakeholders.
