Solar Commissioning & Field Operations Lead

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Solar Commissioning & Field Operations Lead to join our team. This role focuses on the upkeep, troubleshooting, and optimization of ground-mounted solar projects. The ideal candidate must be able to travel to solar facilities and have a strong understanding of solar PV systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the efficient operation of our solar facilities. EV Solar provides a 365-day warranty on each solar field, and this role primarily supports warranty-related service needs. Additionally, this position will assist solar fields at the Mechanical Completion stage, including testing, commissioning of system components, and DAS setup. Key Responsibilities • Perform routine maintenance checks and inspections on ground-mounted solar systems. • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to solar panels, inverters, and electrical components. • Monitor system alarms daily using Also Energy and GPM for projects completed within the last 365 days. • Analyze system performance data to identify potential optimizations and improvements. • Conduct preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications. • Respond to service calls and address on-site issues promptly and efficiently. • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards. • Document maintenance activities and repairs using Microsoft Teams and Procore. • Work closely with engineering and project management teams to provide feedback on system design improvements. • Assist and lead other O&M technicians in troubleshooting and scheduling tasks. As Lead Technician, guide team members and uphold quality standards in service operations. • Support testing and commissioning new solar installations, including DAS startup Mechanical and Substantial Completion tasks, Punch list resolution, I-V curve tracing and thermal imaging. Qualifications • Proven experience in solar PV system maintenance and troubleshooting. • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, solar technology, and industry standards. • Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance requirements. • A proactive, Strong analytical and problem-solving with a keen attention to detail in all aspects of work. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members effectively • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings using Procore. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to various project sites. • NABCEP certification or equivalent (preferred). • Electrical licensure or formal technical education (a plus).
