Job Title: Solar Technician – Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Location: Ithaca NY Department: Operations & Maintenance Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Technician – O&M to support the operation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on residential, commercial, or utility-scale solar power systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of solar PV systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, modules, and wiring. • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in solar power systems to minimize downtime and maintain performance targets. • Monitor system performance using SCADA or remote monitoring software, and identify deviations or underperformance. • Maintain accurate records of service activities, inspections, and system performance metrics. • Perform thermal imaging, IV curve tracing, and electrical testing (insulation resistance, continuity, etc.). • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations (OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E) and company policies. • Replace or repair system components, including fuses, breakers, wiring, and solar modules. • Assist in commissioning and decommissioning activities as needed. • Collaborate with engineering and support teams for complex fault analysis or equipment upgrades.
