Paint Line Team Member

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Team member loads and unloads sheet metal parts on the conveyor paint line. Sets up and adjusts washer, dryer, paint booth and curing oven for all paint jobs performed at DeWys Manufacturing Inc. Utilizes viable powder paint techniques to achieve quality painting the first time while maximizing powder utilization. Performs all racking, spraying, unracking and packing duties in an efficient manner to achieve maximum through put. Selects appropriate material and racks for each job performed. Adjusts valves and gauges as required to set pressure and control flow of paint guns in paint booth. Readjusts pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating. Adjusts thermostat to maintain specified temperature in cure and paint ovens. Inspects painted component parts for runs and unpainted areas. Must be capable of reading and understanding customer blueprints and diagrams to ensure accurate production of parts according to customer specifications. Must have a good working knowledge of internal traveler procedures, documentation and bar coding requirements. Meet or exceed the production rates while maintaining the required quality. Minimize set-up times while ensuring machines and tools are used to maximize output safely with minimum wear on the machines and tools. Identify, analyze and eliminate specific causes for rejected parts. Troubleshoot problems as they occur. Seek assistance from other team members or team facilitator when needed. Cleans paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from disks, cones, spray heads, and hoses. Perform other preventative and unplanned maintenance as required on entire paint line. Maintain a clean, organized work center. Assembles and packages products using glue, bolts, screws, speed clips or other fasteners. Packaging may vary from kitting sets to packages which include assembly of several components and final packs including shipping labels. All members of the paint line must work together as a team. Continual support and assistance from all team members is required. Requirements • High school education; or 3 or more years of experience in metal painting. Previous powder coat experience a plus. Must be capable of working with bar coding applications for proper recording of time and labor. • Needs to be able to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, work rules, travelers, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Needs to be able to properly complete travelers for all jobs performed. Needs to be able to communicate effectively with fellow team members and team facilitators as required. • Needs to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be capable of reading micrometers, calipers and tape measure. • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License to be able to be licensed as a qualified lift truck driver at DeWys Manufacturing, Inc. Working conditions While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed heat generated in the paint area from the ovens. The noise level in the work environment is at a moderate level. Hearing protection is available for team member use, but is not required personal protective equipment. Safety glasses must be worn at all times by team members. Physical requirements While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand. The team member is frequently is required to rotate to various positions on the paint line including hanging, spraying and packing parts. While performing spraying operations, the hand movement is repetitive. The team member must regularly lift and/or move parts up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. When workpieces exceed 50 pounds, team member obtains assistance from fellow team members or uses a power industrial lift truck to move materials.
