Primary Purpose of this position: Fabricates, assembles, installs and repairs sheet metal products and equipment such as duct work, control boxes, drainpipes, ventilators and furnace casings, according to job order and/or blueprints. Specific Job Duties: • Comply with all safety standards, policies and procedures • Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, snips and drills • Install support hangers, make duct connection using clips, drives, nuts, bolts, TDC tape, sealer, sheet metal screws, etc. as needed • Cut in 45 degree entry takeoff holes (round, rectangle or square) using hand or electric snips • Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, rivets and install spin-in, peel and stick, or airtight duct taps, connect to branch duct • Cut holes in block or concrete walls and roofs • Install manual dampers, supporting hardware, etc., make final connections to equipment • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces, seams and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and portable power tools • Fasten seams and joints with bolts, cement, rivets, caulk, clips, etc. • Install round pipe/spiral duct, flex duct, motorized dampers, fire dampers, splitter dampers, louvers, air handlers and flex duct • Miter ducts • Insulate duct or wrap if required • Repair duct liner if necessary • Use ladder, teletower, scaffolding, or lift to reach installation point • Operate man lift, personal lift, chain hoist, duct jack Position Requirements: • Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and ability to meet company driver qualification policy • Applicants must complete drug screening, criminal background check, and physical assessment If you are interested in: • Developing your skills • Teamwork • Providing outstanding Customer Service • Safety and Quality then a career with Riddleberger Brothers, Inc. may be right for you; we strive to work safely and exceed customer expectations! Sheet Metal Mechanic

Job description Purpose and Scope Mechanics fulfill an important role in the success of the Company. They provide hands-on leadership to the field crews and ensure jobs are completed on schedule – from the layout preparation phase through final installation and testing. Additionally, they provide vital communications from the job site to management. They provide direction and supervision to Apprentices, Journeymen, and Helpers for the installation of a comprehensive range of commercial piping (Plumbing/Piping) and HVAC systems (Sheet Metal) and related equipment as specified by each job and according to drawings. They ensure the quality of finished products. Because the mechanical contracting and construction industry is occasionally dependent upon uncontrollable economic factors, mechanics may be assigned to projects or tasks in other departments as needed. Responsibilities • Arrive at the job site on time and leave at the end of the designated workday. • Comply with and enforce Company policies as outlined in the employee handbook. • Positively represent the Company through personal appearance, professionalism, and exemplary work performance. • Plan and organize the worksite to meet priorities, goals and workforce-hour allocation. • Provide clear instructions to subordinates and ensure work is done correctly. • Perform all work accurately according to Company standards and industry practices. • Perform work according to applicable codes and drawings. • Ensure that change orders are communicated appropriately between the office and the field and that timely adjustments/changes are made as necessary. • Ensure adherence with safety regulations and policies and guide inexperienced workers in proper use of PPE and safe operation of hand and power tools. • Identify and implement cost-effective procedures and workflow as appropriate. • Properly care for and maintain Company-owned property, i.e. vehicle is maintained, tools, equipment, and materials properly secured and locked at the end of each day, etc. • Interpret and apply mechanical and structural blueprints during layout. • Implement solutions to problems by involving the effected trades/groups, gathering information and analyzing the situation. • Maintain a safe, cooperative, and healthy work environment. • Conduct standardized performance evaluations of assigned subordinates. • Organize the job and day to day operations – order materials, schedule equipment, and workforce in advance. • Participate in training to gain additional knowledge (formal and informal). • Coordinate work with other crews, subs and job site superintendent, as required. • Communicate appropriately with supervisors regarding job issues, requests for sick or vacation leave or other job-related matters. • Attend and participate in required meetings. • Assist with jobs/tasks within the Company to adjust for workflow changes. Organizational Leadership: Sheet Metal Mechanics report to either the Field Sheet Metal Supervisor or Field Plumbing and Piping Supervisor and jointly supervise Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman. Job Requirements Education and Training – Vocational training in plumbing and piping or sheet metal; Master Tradesman License Preferred; Eligibility for a license or equivalent experience required. Experience – Field Experience Required; Previous Supervisory Experience Desired. Additional Skills or Requirements – Valid Virginia Driver’s License required along with an acceptable driving record as defined by our insurer. Physical Requirements Must be able to perform basic physical tasks normal to the construction industry, including but not limited to kneeling for long periods, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, crawling, lifting at least 50 lbs. and be able to work with arms above head level for sustained periods; must be able to work in hot and cold temperatures and adverse weather and job site conditions.
