Position Summary: In this role, the JM Sheet Metal Worker will fabricate, install, and maintain sheet metal ductwork, air handling, and cleanroom enclosures for ultra-clean (high purity) airflow, chemical air distribution, and exhaust systems in semiconductor plants. You’ll work under Foreman / General Foreman guidance, collaborating with QA/QC, commissioning, and other trades to meet project specs, timelines, and quality expectations. Key Responsibilities: • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, shop and field drawings, 2D/3D models (isometrics) for cleanroom duct, air handling, and enclosure systems. • Fabricate, assemble, install, and seal sheet metal ductwork, plenums, transitions, boots, and cleanroom enclosures using appropriate methods (welding, riveting, sealing, structural framing). • Perform high-precision layout, cutting, bending, forming, and finishing of sheet metal components to meet cleanliness, tolerance, and airflow performance (including SMACNA / SEMI standards as applicable). • Ensure installation meets cleanroom classification requirements (e.g., minimal leaks, smooth airflow, minimized particle generation). • Carry out inspections, leak testing, sealing, QA checks, and participate in turn-over documentation (including as-builts, fabrication logs). • Perform daily safety checks, toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and conform to strict safety & cleanroom protocols (PPE, suit-up, gowning, etc.). • Collaborate with other trades, site management, and clients to coordinate installations, manage interferences, and maintain schedule integrity. • Maintain clean work areas consistent with high purity / cleanroom requirements; control contamination risks. Qualifications: • Journeyperson Sheet Metal certification (Red Seal or equivalent) required. • Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or similar high-purity environments dealing with cleanroom/air distribution / high-spec ducts. • Strong ability to read blueprints, isometric/3D models, HVAC / ductwork layouts. • Knowledge of SMACNA, SEMI (if relevant), NFPA, and OSHA safety standards as applicable; OSHA 10 certification required. • Skilled in welding, metal forming, sheet metal fabrication tools, proper sealing techniques. • Attention to detail, high standards around cleanliness and finish. • Experience with cleanroom protocols (e.g. gowning, contamination control) is a strong asset. • Strong communication, ability to work in teams and adapt to evolving project requirements. Working Conditions: • Work is performed in cleanroom environments, sub-fab and other controlled zones, and outdoor / fabrication shop areas. • Must wear cleanroom PPE (bunny suits, gloves, masks, etc.), adhere to gowning / protocol. • Physically demanding work: lifting, bending, climbing, working at heights, overhead work. • Frequent walking across site; exposure to noise, sometimes heat/cold depending on shop vs field. • May require extended hours, shift work, or weekend work to meet installation milestones.
