Manufacturing Engineer

Summary: The Engineer provides hands-on technical support to the engineering and production teams in a manufacturing facility that assembles metal door frames. This role involves assisting with equipment setup, robot programming and adjustments, plant layout changes, and troubleshooting production line issues to improve efficiency and quality. Key Responsibilities: • Assist with plant layout modifications to improve workflow and production efficiency. • Manage and track spare parts inventory for production and maintenance needs. • Prepare and update production work instructions, ensuring accuracy and compliance. • Perform robot adjustments and debugging for ABB and Yaskawa robotic systems. • Maintain and organize system audit documentation and production-related engineering files. • Monitor and manage engineering parameters to ensure process consistency. • Support the procurement of engineering-related materials, tools, and equipment. • Participate in troubleshooting and debugging production line issues to minimize downtime. • Conduct production line efficiency and problem analysis, recommending improvement actions. • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to solve engineering and mechanical problems on the line. • Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the plant. Qualifications and Requirements: • 2 - 8 years of work experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment. • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and capable of creating and modifying simple part drawings. • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation. • Hands-on experience with ABB or Yaskawa robots (operation, adjustment, or debugging). • Basic mechanical or engineering knowledge and practical understanding of manufacturing processes. • Forklift driving experience preferred or ability to become certified. • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience using a laptop computer for documentation and data analysis. • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must be able to work safely and follow all JSA instructions, safety rules, and policies. • Multi-Craft technician with the objective of continuous improvement in areas including safety, quality, and production. • Ability to work as an “on call” technician in a rotation. • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice depending on machine unplanned events. • Willing and able to assist in breakdowns and repairs including pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical applications as needed. • Willing and capable of working on more advanced technical applications. • Willing and capable of installing equipment and any utilities needed for equipment, including conduit bending and wire pulling. • Willing to work on projects assigned by the Plant Maintenance Manager. • Must be driven and show initiative to start tasks without being told. • Follow all inventory control guidelines and inventory management procedures. • Willing to train fellow team members in areas unfamiliar. • Willing to assist with “8 Hour” PM’s and “7 Day Cleanups” Qualifications • Must possess a strong knowledge of electricity and electrical troubleshooting to include single and three phase applications. • Must possess knowledge of OSHA standards and NEC guidelines in compliance with NFPA 70. • Working knowledge of all plant production equipment. • Must be able to read and troubleshoot using electrical and mechanical schematics. • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC programming protocols to include software for ControlLogix 5000, SLC 500, and PLC 5 programmable controllers. • Working knowledge of drive systems and drive system software. • Knowledge of AC and DC motor systems including VFD control and troubleshooting. • Must possess an above average knowledge of mechanical systems including gearbox maintenance, vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and motor/gearbox/pulley alignment standards. • Must possess practical and working knowledge of all utility systems including chilled water, compressed air, nitrogen generation, and electrical supply switchgears. Packaging Engineer

Our team is expanding and looking to add a Packaging Engineer. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate who is interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector. The Packaging Engineer will oversee designs and specify product packaging to ensure product integrity under varying shipping conditions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop, source, and test appropriate/cost-conscious packaging designs adhering to multiple OEM packaging requirements • WIP, Export, Service, Production Returnable, Production Expendable • Provide packaging estimates/quotes to Cost Estimating team / Program Management • Generate detailed and accurate work instructions • Support packaging cost reduction efforts • Cost calculation – returnable vs. expendable packaging studies • Develop and maintain project activity schedules for packaging designs to coordinate with product launch including pre-production activities • Work with cross-functional teams to understand the appropriate user needs for class ‘A’ parts with various surface coatings (paint, anodizing, bright trim, etc.) • Ability to interface effectively with plant workers, program management, engineering, quality, finance, customers, suppliers • Lead packaging innovation both at the project level and within the packaging organization • Work closely with manufacturing to implement packaging designs for a smooth transition • Maintain and develop supplier relations, assist in problem solving activities with packaging suppliers including trouble shooting problems with existing packaging (packs/dunnage) • Coordination of modifications for packaging components with suppliers KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS • BS in Packaging or equivalent • 2-5 years packaging experience • Prior automotive industry experience • OEM / Tier 1 experience a plus • Parts include -Painted, plastic injection molded, bright steel, chrome, anodized parts (class ‘A’ surface) • Familiar with packaging materials – corrugated, plastic, laminates, wood, chip, PE bags, foam, expendable packaging, returnable packaging • Packaging design experience, a plus • Experience implementing returnable and expendable container programs is a necessity • Knowledgeable of domestic and international packaging standards/practices/regulations • Ability to prioritize and multi-task - self-starter • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes • Strong communications (oral/written), presentation and organization skills
