Your Opportunity This senior-level position brings deep Mechanical Engineering experience and relationships in the A/E industry to contribute to the overall strategic and tactical leadership of the Stantec Mechanical Engineering discipline. The focus will be on leading our most technically complex work and providing staff mentorship in the delivery of our work. While not a primarily business development focused position, providing senior level discipline support to multi-discipline project pursuits will be part of the responsibility. The role is intended to span project types, including science and technology, healthcare, transit, civic, commercial, industrial, and critical facilities. In addition, it is our goal to partner with other business lines such as the Transportation and look for opportunities to provide the broadest engagement possible through collaboration. The goal is to maintain diverse and technically challenging project opportunities – and to incorporate mentorship, management, and client engagement through the delivery of work. Your Key Responsibilities Organizational Leadership • Be a primary contributor to building Stantec’s Mechanical Engineering practice. • Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, and partner firms in the local and regional A/E industry. • Develop project proposals. • Assist the marketing department with the development of mechanical engineering marketing materials and content. • Participate in the mentorship and management of HVAC and Plumbing project managers, designers, and CAD/Revit production staff. • In conjunction with other stakeholders, identify and forecast staff needs and assignments based on current and projected workload and SME requirements. • Hold project team members accountable for delivery standards and best practices. • Responsible for managing the financial performance, quality control processes, and project delivery for Mechanical Engineering projects. • Ensure compliance with best practices, including Stantec PM Frameworks Project Involvement. • Work with PM's and SMEs on key projects to develop and deliver client drawings, specifications, presentations, reports, and other deliverables. • Successfully manage projects of significant scope, complexity, and revenue budget. • Apply buildings engineering and project management knowledge while leading cross-functional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets. • Meet technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary and client service objectives for projects. • Apply strong engineering skills, experience and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design for building projects. • Manage and plan the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for engineering projects. • Act as a QC reviewer on Mechanical Engineering projects. Technical Leadership • Maintain awareness of operational, technical, or regulatory changes within Mechanical Engineering and AEC overall, disseminate such knowledge to staff and firm, and integrate into existing processes and standards. • Maintain and update Mechanical Engineering specifications, technical documentation, and standards in collaboration with other Sr. Mechanical technical resources in Stantec. • Oversee Mechanical Engineering Design delivery process and best practices and coordinate with other disciplines. • Provide oversight for Mechanical Engineering staff’s education and certification process & balance firm, studio and staff need. • Maintain current knowledge of technologies and trends impacting Stantec's core service offerings and markets and continually strengthens skills. Your Capabilities And Credentials • Experience successfully delivering Mechanical Engineering consulting to Architects and Owners. • Training and professional experience in project management. • Client consulting experience in a consulting engineering environment. • Proven track record of hiring, developing, managing, and retaining top talent. • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Education And Experience • Bachelor’s degree Mechanical engineering required. • Minimum 15 or more years related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills preferred. • People management (mechanical engineers) experienced required. • Professional Engineering license in Alaska preferred • Project Management experience is a plus. This position will report required to work within the Anchorage, Alaska office five days a week to start for onboarding. Presence in the office is required a minimum of three days per week after onboarding. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Job Title: Project Engineer-Mechanical • **Work Location: Anchorage, AK (JBER)*** Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen Duties/Responsibilities: • Candidate will provide construction engineering services on several simultaneous federal projects ranging in value up to tens of millions to hundreds of millions of dollars in construction value. • Experience with “Large” projects are defined as a construction value of at least $100 million or more. • Candidate will be responsible for site observation and reporting on multiple assigned projects to government personnel. • Candidate will provide technical and administrative support. • Oversee construction, contract administration, and quality assurance activities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. • Analyze design and construction issues with respect to contract requirements. • Deliver recommendations to government personnel regarding compliance with contract provisions. • Candidate should be prepared to review and interpret plans and specifications, submittals, reports, schedules, modifications, cost estimates, pay applications, change orders and claims. • Provide field surveillance and prepare daily detailed reports covering all pertinent factors affecting cost and engineering considerations. • Participate in pre-construction conferences with government personnel. • Interaction with client and contractors requires candidate to have a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. • Previous experience with US Army Corp of Engineers projects will also be viewed as a plus. Education/Experience: • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering • Minimum of 5 years of engineering; construction and contract administration experience. • Experience on projects with government clients, preferred. • US Army Corp of Engineering or USACE projects is preferred as well. • Experience with Large "campus" type project is preferred • Mechanical Systems experience is preferred.
