Job Title: Construction Laborer/Carpenter Job Summary: This position is responsible for performing construction labor work/carpenter work at construction sites managed by Callahan Construction, Inc. Construction sites are located in and around the Dubuque County area. Regular hours will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or as arranged with the owner. Responsibilities: - Perform carpentry work, including construction and repairs - Install and repair flooring, including hardwood, laminate, and tile - Utilize power tools and hand tools to complete carpentry tasks - Frame walls using metal studs and other materials - Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects Qualifications: - Proven experience as a carpenter or laborer in the construction industry - Proficiency in construction painting, flooring installation, metal stud framing, and power tool operation - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately - Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks and lift heavy materials as needed - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. POSITION SUMMARY Under direction of the foreperson, laborers will typically work on a road crew but may work at an asphalt plant or maintenance shop. A laborer’s job function will include, but not be limited to: job layout, shoveling, raking, sweeping, and traffic control along with operating small equipment such as blowers, saws, compactors, and jack hammers. On the job training will provide the knowledge and skills to become a productive member of one of our crews, with the potential for advancement opportunities to become an equipment operator. This position is a full-time seasonal, working May through November (weather permitting). This position requires working overtime and some Saturdays. Local and regional travel opportunities are available. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A JOBSITE ASSISTANT/LABORER As a Jobsite Assistant/Laborer, you work with on-site foreman and crew members to complete various tasks. You clean and prepare sites by erecting scaffolding, removing debris or waste materials, and digging trenches. You safely load and unload supplies from trucks manually and with the use of equipment. As needed, you report safety violations to management. Some of your other duties include handling materials, storing items properly, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
