Position Summary: Sets up and operates numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic pieces, utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, and shop math. Description: The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of a high-speed slitting machine. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Primary Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to the following: • Assigned machines may include (Label Laminator, Specialty Gluer, Flatbed Die cutters, Flexo Printers, etc.) • Perform activities utilizing the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and always promote safety. • Follow LOTO procedure (Lock out tag out) when machine is inoperable. • Inspects equipment before use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and accomplishes preventive maintenance when scheduled. • Operates production machinery and executes project in accordance with job card and CAD specifications. • Reviews and analyzes information and checks it meets the requirements associated with the project. • Accurately interpret a work order and verify it’s the correct board grade, sheet size & scores, required tooling (print plates, cut die, labels, etc.), special labeling instruction and pallet pattern/ stacking procedure. • Produces the required quantity of parts to fulfill a job and verify it’s within the tolerance (over/under) • Measures finished parts with tape measure, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications, in alignment with first article inspection. • Eliminate or avoid any waste (overproduction, excess motion, excess processing, etc.) • Log and record correctly the number of units produced throughout the shift in job card, daily production report and production tracker, and include record of errors resulting scrap or rejected pieces, amount of downtime (if applicable) and the reason of it being. • Confirm that every pallet produced is properly identified with its respective WIP tag and double check that quantities are correct, apply enough dunnage. • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Go through items in a workspace, remove unnecessary items (inks, dies, print plate, pallets, etc.), keep it organized and clean. Make sure it always sustains. (5S methodology) • Responsible for ensuring the machine operates efficiently while producing products that conform to quality standards (First Article Inspection Process). • Complete tasks within the specified time accurately and professionally while working independently and/or as a team. • Minimize changeover or setup time in a process aim for a Single Minute Exchange Die method (SMED). • Address any problems associated with machine, tooling, or consumables that will affect productivity and/or a due date in a timely manner. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
