Retrieve CNC program from DNC computer. Insert work piece into chuck or other holding device. Select and install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets or indexing heads, and automatic tool change magazine in sequence specified on process sheet. Operation of CNC Lathe: depress buttons, toggles, etc and start machining operation. Perform dry run and observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts. Adjust dials and switches to override CNC program and correct machine performance as necessary. Study job packet and organize materials for next run during automatic cycles to shorten change over time. Set up and operate another machine tool during CNC controlled machining cycles as necessary. Communicate with individuals associated with the production of each job. Perform and document specified inspection criteria. Identify and communicate any suspect and/or non-conforming product to the appropriate supervisor. Complete any necessary non-conforming product paper work. Deliver non-conforming product to designated area. Scan on and off of all jobs ran during shift for costing analysis. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures and work instructions. Perform necessary machine maintenance at specified intervals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with others. Ability to calculate figures. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret blueprint specifications. Ability to use appropriate measuring devices and any equipment associated with job.
