Industrial Steel Saw Operator

Precision Laser & MFG is a designer and builder of specialty shipping racking and trailers. We have 3 plants in Canada, 2 in the US and 1 in Mexico. We are a growing company and are looking to add an industrial saw operator to join our team. QUALIFICATIONS OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES: • Able to use measuring tape and read measurements accurately up to 16th of an inch. • Mechanical Aptitude: The ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on industrial machinery. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders. • Attention to Detail: A strong focus on precision and accuracy when measuring and cutting materials. • Safety Awareness: A commitment to following all company safety standards and procedures. • Physical Stamina: The ability to handle and move steel stock, which may involve lifting and operating material handling equipment. • Willingness to Train: Comfortable being trained on use of overhead crane/hoist and large industrial saw. • Ability to lift up to 40lbs if/when needed (overhead hoists available for heavy lifts and forklift places steel bundles on saw intake conveyor rollers) JOB DESCRIPTION: • Operating various saws or other metal-cutting machinery to cut steel bars, tubes, and structural shapes to precise measurements. • Adjust saw settings, such as speed, feed rate, and blade tension, based on the type and thickness of the steel being cut. • Read and interpret work orders, cut lists, and technical drawings or blueprints to understand project specifications and dimensions. • Adjusting saw settings like speed, feed rate, and blade tension based on material type and thickness. • Adhering to all safety procedures and maintaining a clean and safe work area. • Performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on saw equipment. • Loading, unloading, and moving steel materials using cranes, hoists, or forklifts. • Inspect cut pieces to ensure they meet quality standards, accuracy, and dimensional specifications. • Accurately measuring and marking materials before cutting to ensure precision. • Make adjustments to saw controls to cut precise lengths of steel pieces for orders • Able to count number of pieces for order and document on order sheet • Work in metal fab shop environment While we thank all those who apply, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. JOB FUNCTIONS • Observes company safety rules and complies with safety practices. • Must have successfully completed Department Assistant I Checklist. • Capable of documenting quality checks required by work center. • Assists in safe and efficient operation of printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters, gluers, and all support equipment. • Aids in identifying and resolving process and machine problems. • Participates in make-ready preparation for assigned equipment. • Prepares necessary reports as required to accomplish production goals. • Performs general housekeeping functions in assigned area. • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Machinist’s Mates (MM) are responsible for operating and maintaining ship propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment and outside machinery.
