Position Overview This position is responsible for providing quality CNC programs, tooling, fixtures, and gauges required for CNC machining equipment to produce components safely, efficiently, and accurately. The CNC Programmer/Machinist spends approximately 40-50% of their time developing and documenting CNC programs, 10-20% designing and procuring fixtures, gaging, and tooling, and 40-50% setting-up and qualifying programs and completing the operation (including inspection). Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and supports team members in these processes. While performing all duties and responsibilities, the successful candidate will, at all times, model Company values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the Company Code of Conduct and Ethics. Specific Technical Knowledge: Experience producing tight tolerance components in a Tool Room environment. Experienced in CNC machining processes, programs, set-ups, monitoring, change-overs, etc. using a wide variety of machine tools. (CNC Cylindrical Grinding is a plus.) Three to five years of experience with CAD/CAM (AutoCAD, Inventor, MasterCam, SmartCAM or equivalent software programs) Working knowledge of a wide variety of inspection devices.( Set-up / Operation / Programming of CMM is a plus) Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other team members. Willingness to learn and (at times) teach others. Skills & Qualifications Two-year degree from a technical school majoring in Machine Tool Technology, Automated Manufacturing, or similar degree program with formal training in CNC programming and operation. Experience will also be considered.
