Department: Manufacturing Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Job Locations: Facility Manufacturing Machines Shift: All Shifts Job Summary: The Machine Operator is responsible for the proper operation of the assigned machine in accordance with established procedures. Responsibilities and Duties: • Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions and to ensure that outputs conform to specifications • Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Basic math and computer skills may be utilized. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and operator level maintenance instructions and procedures. • Will be assigned and perform additional duties as required by the company. Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or Equivalent • Three months’ experience as a machine operator within a manufacturing environment-strongly preferred Work Environment: • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. • This position works in a manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. • The employee may be exposed to vibration. • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and/or outside weather conditions. • The noise level in the work environment may be loud. • This position may work with hazardous materials where personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary and specific procedures must be followed to adhere to safety regulations. Job Title: Machine Operator 1 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Operations Reports to: Assistant Manager, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: Machine Operator 1 (MO1) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing company railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This position can operate Loram’s on track MOW equipment and/or on track vehicles with supervision in both operating and travel modes. In this role you may be assigned to various types of equipment platforms dependent on business needs and demands. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Safety Focused • Ability to lead a comprehensive and appropriate job briefing during operations shifts, maintenance shifts, and while conducting maintenance tasks. • Consistently follows safe work processes, procedures and rules • Understands on track safety and can explain specifics when asked • Able to locate all emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge • Conducts machine inspections to identify problems, defects, changes, and hazards and communicates conditions to the operator or supervisor and performs common repairs as instructed. External Candidates: 2+ Years Demonstrated technical skills such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and machine operations. 2+ Years Demonstrated ability to learn communicate verbally and in writing and learn best practices Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications, CPR/First Aid, valid Driver’s License Slots – 1+ year experience Heavy equipment operator (Backhoe, Excavator, or alike). Heavy Maintenance/ Construction equipment maintenance. Basic administration computer skills. Working knowledge of data systems and remote equipment operations cellar or tethered. Aurora - Minimum of 1 year computer or technology background. 1 year of working knowledge working with MS Windows. Preferred radiation experience. Commercial Driver’s License or able to obtain a Class B. Summary The position of Production Operator is a non-exempt position that will work a rotating 12-hour shift. Operators are responsible for operation of all equipment and production of PVC pipe. It is also frequently necessary to stand, bend, squat, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull equipment. Reports To: Team Leader Duties/Responsibilities: • Lift pipe from beller table to the pipe cart when required. • Stack pipe in the cart. • Hourly dimensional checks and associated paperwork as well as machine readings • Ability to make necessary changes on the extrusion lines to ensure quality pipe without assistance. • Maintain a consistent level of production with minimal amount of scrap. • Operate all equipment safely and according to proper procedure. • Ensure that the shift codes and dates are changed and that all print is legible and correct according to specification sheet, including ink color. • Assist in product changes when necessary. • Follow all safety guidelines and company policies • Maintain a clean and safe work area. • All other duties assigned by Management.
