Our team is dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Position OverviewMechanical HVAC Assembly Technician II to take ownership of the mechanical and refrigeration assembly of our 36,000 BTU machine tool coolant chillers This is a hands-on role suited for experienced technicians familiar with HVAC/refrigeration systems, mechanical assembly, and industrial equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesAssemble sheet metal base and frame structures.Install components including:7.5 HP motor and 1 HP coolant pumpAir conditioning compressor, heat exchanger, condenser, accumulator, and expansion valveRun 1 plumbing lines and assemble associated pipe fittings.Cut, prep, and braze copper piping (3/8, 1/2, 5/8).Operate forklifts and hand carts for material handling.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.Skills & Requirements:5+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC/R (chillers, rooftop systems, refrigeration, controls).Strong understanding of the refrigeration cycle and mechanical systems.Skilled in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC/refrigeration units.Experience with industrial or commercial machine assembly is a strong plus.Ability to read mechanical and piping assembly drawings; basic electrical knowledge is a bonus.Comfortable using hand tools, torque wrenches, and applying proper sealing compounds (e.g., Loctite).Familiarity with belts, pulleys, and shim alignment.Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently or in a team setting.Physical Requirements:Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work with tools and machinery safely.Compensation and BenefitsPay Range: $26.00-$34.00/hour (based on experience)Comprehensive benefits package including:Health insuranceLife insurance401(k) retirement planPaid time offPaid holidaysLong-term disability insuranceWork EnvironmentLocation: This position is onsite at our Elmira, NY facilityForkardt Hardinge is an Equal Opportunity Employer, Veteran/Disability

Primary duties relate to all HVAC units and temperature related control and devices through out facility. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Plans work and makes decisions on need of repairs, and completes reports as directed. 2. Operates, maintains and repairs HVAC, units, and associated pumps and equipment. 3. Tests water in boilers on each shift; prepares and adjusts boiler treatment for boilers and recharges water softeners as needed. 4. Performs minor electrical and plumbing repairs without supervision. 5. Works on equipment such as ice machines, refrigeration equipment, motors, automatic recording and HVAC, various temperature control mechanisms. 6. Changes belts and pulleys on motors, adjusts clutches on motors and changes electric motors. 7. Assists in repairs of air, steam, water, gas and oil line systems. 8. Unloads, assembles and installs equipment as required. 9. Stores all flammable materials in approved covered containers. 10. Performs and shares on call with all maintenance technicians. 11. Responds to all fire alarms and drills. 12. Inspects air intakes sources, screens and filters with special attention to "high risk" areas, in accordance with departmental procedures. 13. Takes readings of thermometers and gauges. Records readings in logs as required. 14. Notifies Lead Tech on all calls of any emergency situations. 15. Cleans area after work is completed. 16. Promotes and fosters the mission and philosophy of the Hospital during performance of job duties and community activities. 17. Actively supports and participates in Hospital's Continuous Quality Improvement endeavors. 18. Performs other related duties as assigned. 19. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, climbing, lifting, stretching, stooping, carrying materials, and equipment. Works indoors and outdoors. Handles and manipulates tools and equipment. Occasionally handles heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be able to work from verbal instructions blue prints, sketches, diagrams, and work requests. 2. Must be familiar with relevant state and local construction codes, building, exits, radiation, sanitation, and power codes. 3. Must be able to use all maintenance tools. 4. Familiar with lighting circuits and fire alarm system. 5. Must hold a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. EXPOSURE CATEGORY: Category III.
