Entry-Level Electrical BIM Operator

John Mills Electric is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Electrical BIM Operator to join our growing electrical team. In this role, you’ll assist our electrical designers and project managers in creating accurate, coordinated Building Information Models (BIM) that support our electrical construction and design projects. This position offers excellent opportunities for growth and on-the-job training within a trusted leader in the electrical contracting industry. Key Responsibilities • Work with project teams to develop and maintain electrical BIM models using Autodesk Revit and other related software. • Produce detailed 2D/3D layouts for electrical power, lighting, and communication systems. • Coordinate BIM models with mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines to resolve design conflicts. • Update and manage project documentation and drawings per company BIM standards and client expectations. • Support field and office staff with accurate, real-time model data and drawing revisions. • Assist in implementing BIM workflows that improve accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration across projects. Position Summary: Provide electrical engineering support for the Production, Maintenance, and Engineering departments. Help ensure Electrical Engineering Projects are completed safely, on-time and on-budget, while helping to maximize production efficiencies and output through electrical equipment installations, troubleshooting, and the minimization of equipment down time. Primary Responsibilities: • Project Management - Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and deliver projects on time and on budget. Preparing and completing action plans. Establish installation schedules, select contractors, coordinate equipment shutdowns, and supervise project installations. • Leadership – Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to the Maintenance electrical associates while helping to drive accountability. Lead or participate in various continuous improvement teams. • Troubleshooting – Able to determine root cause and resolution of electrical equipment issues as quickly as possible by utilizing troubleshooting best practices while working with and directing union Maintenance resources. • Safety – Be knowledgeable about current NFPA, NEC, IEEE standards, OSHA electrical equipment codes, and general electrical equipment best practices. Remain current by participating in periodic safety audits and trainings. • Work Instructions - Generate work instructions and documentation as required for in plant electricians to operate power distribution equipment and glass melting equipment • Continuous Improvement – Provide recommendations for process improvements, equipment upgrades, improved training activities, energy efficiency opportunities, and strategic plans. • Travel %: 5% Qualifications: • BS Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. • Successful execution in a fast paced, 24/7, union environment. • Perform on-call duties as requested. • Close collaboration within and in support of, cross functional teams. • Clear, concise communication that delivers timely, accurate, valuable information. • Minimum 5 years’ experience. • Three (3) medium voltage incoming utility sources in the tens of megawatt range • 6400 HP (combined) compressor system • Westinghouse, General Electric, Cutler- Hammer/Westinghouse and Schneider Electric indoor step-down substations • Analog and digitally controlled 2.4kV and .48kV SCR’s for power supplies ranging from 5kVA to 3900kVA • SCR’s, starters, motors, VFD’s Comp Range: $$91k-$116,5K. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
