Musil Brothers Construction is looking for a self-driven, hardworking, FULLTIME Carpentry Apprentice to join our team. We travel site-to-site within Central NY and have work year-round. Most of our work is new home construction and consists of; but not limited to trim work (baseboards, doors, window/door casings, crown molding, etc..), kitchen cabinets, stairs and custom built-ins. This type of work requires manual labor, use of power tools and ladders. Job experience is not required. However, knowledge of power tools and how to operate them safely is greatly desired. A successful candidate must be willing and eager to learn/adapt to all roles and responsibilities of the job, show up to jobsites on time and strive for quality in their work every day. Trades Generalist (Carpenter)

Job Summary: Responsible for performing journeyman level work as a Carpenter and semi-skilled work in painting and masonry. Will assist in carrying out projects, and may supervise and instruct lower grade incumbents as needed; will read blueprints and maintain new and existing equipment. Must have basic knowledge of all hand and shop tools associated with the carpentry trade. Specific duties are as follows but not limited to: Perform journeyman level carpentry to include construction and repair of walls, ceilings, floors, doors, cabinetry, counters, and shelving. Includes roofing, millwork, furniture construction, repair and cabinetwork. Make small repairs to furniture, windows, screens, picture frames. Installation of metal doors and frames and adjust doors and hardware including locks (mortise and cylindrical), door closures, door knobs, hinges, door checks, sash fittings; install metal framing, sheetrock; install all types of ceilings, to include suspended, acoustical and aluminum pan using proper methods and techniques of trade; install floors and baseboards (VCT); install Cabinets and countertops, using proper anchoring methods; Prepares surfaces for painting using appropriate methods and tools, cracks or joints. Will make minor repairs to sheetrock and plaster walls; will prime and apply paint to walls using appropriate technique. Must demonstrate knowledge of math used in the carpentry trade, demonstrating working knowledge of carpentry techniques; supervise and train. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting. Must possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license. Minimum Qualifications: Four years of full time experience in the Carpentry trade under a skilled journeyman which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in the carpentry trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade and school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis. Must possess 2 years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work in related trades of Masonry & Painting under the supervision of a skilled tradesman or completion of an appropriate 2 yr. technical school course. Preferred Qualifications: Work Days: Schedule based on 40 hour work week.
